    Confusing != Deep

Bleh, after you showed me that "Wolf at the door song" I've never been able to bring myself to listen to another one of them.

    >>OK, that's true, but 2Pac and B.I.G. were both killed and they rapped about gang warfare all the time... That dude from Sublime sang about drugs and got himself a heroin OD. Cobain's not the only one to do that.<<

    You are correct, sir.

you are right... Master of Puppets is one of the greatest songs, but it's not what most of people think.

My favourite type of music is thrash metal, but most of people like POP, and RAP music...

Enter Sandman was in the list but it was #77 or something like that...

And don't forget that Many people started to like Metallica after their last abumns( Load, Reload ), which I do not consider as metal albumns at all!

Those albumns were more popular than Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, and other old abumns which are acctually the best of Metallica's albumns...
    none...

There's nothing wrong with power chords, either. Why do people
use this as an anti-Nirvana argument? Ooh, their songs are easy
to play, therefor they suck. That's just stupid.
It's easy to play and write, therefore not musically brilliant.

And yet the most ingeneous and artistic things tend to be of the simpleist nature. . .

his ability to thread emotions throughout the song creates allusions to reality and gives the listener a more intament connection with his music.

if they had a "VH1's best paintings of the last 125 years", I don't think "Squares on black canvas" would be number 1.

Rubbish...if it's easy to play, that doesnt discount a thing from how good a song may be....lots of songs are made up of a few chords and are superb - the Beatles being a case in point. It's to do with feeling...not technical implementation.

And easy to write? I cant se how you can qualify that.

But I will agree with you when it comes to Radiohead....they are superb....not many bands on this earth can touch them at the moment....and I'm seeing them live in a few months - first band I have bothered to seek out a ticket and see live in almost a decade.

Yes, but you would be hard pressed to say for the better.

if a contradiction was contradicted would that contradition contradict the origional crontradiction?

I like both Nirvana and Iron Maiden... Nirvana better.
"Smells Like..." changed music; if you can't see that, you have problems. The song came out back in '91, do you have any idea how bad music was back then? I mean, that was back in Michael Bolton's day. Bands that come out now are still influenced by the music Kurt created. Nobody is influenced by any other artist from back then; the rappers aren't trying to mimic Vanilla Ice or MC Hammer, and the rockers are no longer trying to mimic Guns n Roses (with those stupid, big, Slash-hats).
Public Enemy influenced much of the rap of today, and they're from the late 80s/early 90s.

And that's really all I can say about that... you're mostly right.

    Brian,
You are wrong, easy to play doesn't mean not brilliant, it means it's very brilliant because it's easy to play and also sounds good...

And... I think that Iron Maiden one of the greatest bands, but you cannot compare them to Nirvana, because they are different...
    none...

Well, most video games are easy to play and write as well, but the feeling and soul of them makes them brilliant. Same with Nirvana. I actually feel closer to Nirvana BECAUSE of the fact that I can play some of their songs. I'm also learning "Nothing else matters" from Metallica. The intro is tight on it. I just can't get the special junk down (hammers, etc.). I can play about 3/8 of it now.

the solo to nothing else matters is pretty easy. the rest can be picked up with nothing more than time. it's a nice song to be able to play, though. good luck.

    Cool

When you guys get older, you'll develop a more mature taste for music and realize classical is the best.

    But for now...enjoy your Metallica.
