Rubbish...if it's easy to play, that doesnt discount a thing from how good a song may be....lots of songs are made up of a few chords and are superb - the Beatles being a case in point. It's to do with feeling...not technical implementation.Originally posted by Brian

But I will agree with you when it comes to Radiohead....they are superb....not many bands on this earth can touch them at the moment....and I'm seeing them live in a few months - first band I have bothered to seek out a ticket and see live in almost a decade.

Public Enemy influenced much of the rap of today, and they're from the late 80s/early 90s."Smells Like..." changed music; if you can't see that, you have problems. The song came out back in '91, do you have any idea how bad music was back then? I mean, that was back in Michael Bolton's day. Bands that come out now are still influenced by the music Kurt created. Nobody is influenced by any other artist from back then; the rappers aren't trying to mimic Vanilla Ice or MC Hammer, and the rockers are no longer trying to mimic Guns n Roses (with those stupid, big, Slash-hats).
And that's really all I can say about that... you're mostly right.

You are wrong, easy to play doesn't mean not brilliant, it means it's very brilliant because it's easy to play and also sounds good...
And... I think that Iron Maiden one of the greatest bands, but you cannot compare them to Nirvana, because they are different...

Well, most video games are easy to play and write as well, but the feeling and soul of them makes them brilliant. Same with Nirvana. I actually feel closer to Nirvana BECAUSE of the fact that I can play some of their songs. I'm also learning "Nothing else matters" from Metallica. The intro is tight on it. I just can't get the special junk down (hammers, etc.). I can play about 3/8 of it now.It's easy to play and write, therefore not musically brilliant.
