    CD Drives

What exactly limits a CD drive from being faster than 52X, for read or for burn? I've never seen a drive faster than this, and it seems like if there wasn't a limit, then there would be faster drives.
    Away.

i think thats its more of a physical limit, like 'if it spins faster than this itll explode into tiny shards and light on fire'

i read that there were issues with it keeping balanced at that speed.

Sounds like fun... I may have to try that sometime.
The word rap as it applies to music is the result of a peculiar phonological rule which has stripped the word of its initial voiceless velar stop.

lol.. I doubt 52x is enough centripetal force to rip perspex or whatever a cd is apart.. isnt the physical limit something to do with the speed chemical reactions occur when burning?

No, because that limit is on CD-ROMs, as well as CD burners. It's because the velocity of the outside of the CD becomes just too much.

That's quite expensive. I bought my 52x for £18. That must be about $25. That was brand new and almost a year ago.

well not really ripping it apart. i meant at those speeds it looses balance, since its only on a tiny nipple
