i think alot of people are liking the pentium 4 more just because of hyper-threading. it not a great way of doing smp(since it really doesnt) but a smp board isnt as easy to find(but can be done online) and is normaly more expensive. the chip's price will eventualy come down. if amd were to come out with something like that (and bus speed) it would probally be amd all the way.

except for multimedia, sometimes intel is in the lead with something new, other times amd has it already.

i build my computers with AMD because they're so much cheaper than the P4 equivelants.

I have no favourite chip. I'd choose for Intel, but that's only because I've got experience with their chips. The 8086 family and 8051.

When it comes to other chips, I like the MC68000 which I've used for quite a lot of things, a few years ago I've built a simple cruise-control system with it. Recently I've worked with the MK3. The SH-series of Hitachi also seems quite good, though I have not yet worked with it.

never had any bother with AMD. The ones i have had have always out-performed the intel equivalents.

    So, AMD I guess.
    Such is life.

at times thats all that board seems to have.

Personally I preffer the chips made by amd, mainly because of their price, but there other things that I like better about Amd than Intel. Included below is a link to a website that talks about the past of the x86 microprocessor, I found it in one of my searches and I thought that it might shed some light on the subject. The site does not, in my opinion, take sides and thus it might give some people some more information to use in their explinations as to why the prefer AMD or Intel chips.

Here is a link to the site. http://www.redhill.net.au/iu.html

. When I saw the thread title I thought it would be a poll on the finest cuts of potato to be eaten with burgers.

Oh well. I use AMD because they are cheaper.

AMD because they're better than Intel in every single way. If you ever hear of Intel being better than AMD, remember that it's all lies!

agreed, less compatabily problems and hyperthreading. though dual athlon MPs sound good too...
