    WindowsXP

I was just looking this over on microsoft.com. WinXP does look quite nice, I have to admit. Regarding patches. You can just use the automatic update. You don't have to worry about patches anymore. My only problem is that I'd probably have to pay about $750 USD to upgrade!

    $750 USD?? about £400 Sterling...

    Owch!! That's expensive...

I think I'll stick with MSW 2000 Pro...I only upgraded to that from 98 v.2 a few months ago.

Sure, it's about 500 for the full version than I have to get a new DVD and I'm sure a new network card, etc!

That sux man. I still haven't seen if my system is compatible with XP but im sure it is cause im using WinME right now. I got a dvd player and burner in it, so I don't think ill upgrade unless they will work right.

Yeah, well I'm running Win2k Professional. But my DVD is quite old. There are other things though that might not be compatible.

Well WinXP works perfectly with my computer AND I chose to do an upgrade off of 98 instead of a full install. Everyone says the upgrade is buggy, but it's fine so far...It works like a dream with all of my hardware, including my network card. The only thing it did was kill ZoneAlarm first chance it got. I think they can get sued for this with another antitrust case or something...they're trying to squash a competitor product by not letting it run on their system...

    Oh, wait..it says Pro works...

You can't upgrade to the Professional version from Win9X. Okay, yeah you can.

XP Pro was the easiest, most tolerant of the NT operating
systems to install on my computers. Win 2k Pro was cranky
and NT 4.0 was damned near impossible.

    No. Wait. Don't hang up!

    This is America calling!
