    Tracking Devices, GPS and etc.

I am looking for a device that can somehow tell me if an object is close to me or not. Something like a bug, so I can tell how far the object is away from me. And I want it to have a tracking distance of about several miles.

Is there some kind of GPS maybe that is something like I described above?

If you still wonder what'ta he*l I'm going to use such a thing for just ask, its not top secret.

My friend has a Garmin GPS, which interfaces with the computer via Serial, but it seems that it is encoded oddly; we havent phoned and asked them about specifications on the protocol they are using for the interface. I'm sure that if you phone afew companies they would be glad to 'sell' documentation to you.

I need one of these devices for one purpose - not get busted.

You see, the only good comp that we have in my house is my dad's, so I use it often. But I'm not allowed to. He resently protected hi PC with BIOS password, but it was too easy to figure out. Now everytime I go on the computer I'm in danger of gettin busted, and my dad will change the password. So I need a device that would tell me if his car is close to the house or not.

Kind of like a beeping thing that beeps when object is in surtain range! And beeps faster if its is even closer to a sertain position.

You go way too far for something simple

If you want to check out how far away his car is why don't you just take something like a RadioShack walkie talkie handset and put one of them on the bottom of his car underneath the protective casing somewhere, then tape the Talk button down... once he comes into range you will hear him Or else rig up something in the garage so that you will know that he is coming, IE: A Mic rigged up to the garage (I would do that one). Otherwise if he changes the password just open the PC, remove the battery, short the BIOS ROM(CMOS) by removing the jumper next to the battery... then wait afew minutes, put the battery back in, replace the jumper, put the case sides on... set the BIOS FSB speeds accordingly, and then all is good or you could change his Password on him and tell him it must be a malefunction.

Taking out the battery and changing the password will affect my dad’s and my financial future because all his work is on the comp. Come on, is there a bug, (walkies talkies won’t last long transmitting the signal on their batteries and they are too big) something small and professional maybe?

Removing the battery does not affect the work on the computer. Changing the settings of the BIOS incorrectly can result in frequent lock-ups, but defaults should normally work fine; the biggest thing to look out for (I think) would be the boot process, PnP, IRQ, and FSB settings.

well the problem with that is that walkie talkies use batteries..most batteries last about 8-12 hours..usually someone is at work for 8-12 hours..unless you h4x0r into the cars electrical..

Yea, I suppose that it wouldn't last long. Maybe you could interface it with the car battery.... but once he found out he might be a little ticked off.
