    Unhappy sometimes i wonder...

    sometimes i wonder,

    when i was new to the net, i used to go to sites like killfrog.com and joecartoon.com and a bunch of other cool sites.

    people were heavily into flash movie making and flash game programming, people were heavily into coding/webmastering and the whole 9 yards. my future was computers, because they were getting mroe and more popular.

    but lately, ive seen a dramatic decrease in the interest of what i was heavily into. Flash. killfrog.com is rarely updated, joecartoon hasn't come out with anything for a long tme, scuffmark.com is now gone, the ever growing mound of crap that goes into newgrounds.com boggs down the servers and keeps me from going there anymore.

    ive also seen a dramatic decrease in the interest in programming for alot of people. I am struggling to keep my interests alive, and im doing fine about it. but for alot of people that i know

    "oh, with these flash decompilers, i dont want to program in actionscript anymore, in fear people will just steal my scripts"
    "i used to be a java programmer, now i dont do anything since java is becomming a dead language, and C/C++ is too hard for me to understand"
    "Actionscript used to be cool, now its just boring"
    "yeah i had a site, pretty cool, till every one of the staff members slowly dissapeared due to lack of interest"

    these are what i hear most often.

    so sometimes i wonder, with this decrease in interest latly,

    do any of you think that computers will die out slowly? they will keep the world running, but due to the fall in interest... its kind of hard for me to explain what im thinking right now.

    but do you think that the world will slowly become un-interested in computers? and potential carrers could be destoryed?

    Hell no! If anything, technology will gradually become more pravelent and seal its prominence.

    You're simply basing your concerns on interests you've seen declining for Flash, and programming in general. That's not so valid, if you ask me.

    well, its not as "exciting" as it used to be...like going online and all. im loosing interest slowly in computers now...before i usde to come on to program and work on my site...but even that i can't find the motivation to work on my site..even though theres lots of people waiting. i doubt its dying out..its just when your overexposed to something it looses its coolness...change is good

    Just trying to remind you that there is some good left on the 'net. :-)

    lol, the only use for computers isnt going online and looking at cool flash movies Although I do think that the internet will become less popular, interest and computers in general will never die out

    Java and C++ is so alike (basically the same syntax) that I doubt you can find C++ hard if you find Java easy (I assumed that, since you said you were a Java programmer).

    Too hard to understand? Heretics ! How dare they insult the divine languages thusly ?!?

    And BTW, C/C++ syntax is very much like java, anyone not able to learn it should seriously reconsider whether they really want to become programmers.

    I mean, not understand C ?! What's not to freakin' understand ?!? What's not to love about the elegance and conciseness of C code? C is so dang-diggity beautifull we should *SPEAK* in C!

    That's true. _Everything_ is that way. If you do something too much, you lose balance.

    I had my website on a brinkster account and had a pretty little layout. It became very tedious and annoying to maintain though, so everytime I sat down to work on it, I became discouraged and burnt out very quickly. So, I changed the layout and threw it on a different server. A very bare bones 2 frame layout. Left frame navigation, right frame page reading. Extremely bare bones. Now, I just use an invisible table, or some neat little text arranging, and it becomes organized how I want it quickly. I mainly type and type and type. Posting pictures and so on is now way easier. It's a higher turn out rate as far as content is concerned. Yeah, it may not be all pretty anymore...but do you just want to goto a site because it's pretty? Stare at a page and not read, download, learn, or laugh? That sounds pointless..

    As far as the programming..learn a new concept, but only learn the bare bones implimentation - don't throw that concept into a huge program. Next, work on some other new concept, documenting and saving each program as you go. Refresh your skills by slightly changing the small implimentation while writting a new way for the program to execute the same end result. Then, you're not waisting your time. You're being productive. The next time you need a quick program to do this or that - look back on your notes and write it. Same for a job, or school. Never drown yourself in one thing.

    I am not losing interest in computers. I am on them a lot, but I have a lot of other electronical, or technical toys for entertainment outlets. I also enjoy getting out into the nice weather.

    There are songs that I like, but immediately skip when thrifting through tracks on my cd player or computer. When I actually decide, "Ah well, I'll let it play this time." I like it! Just like old times. Why? I took a break from it for awhile.

    Balance
    The world is waiting. I must leave you now.

    If you feel as if you are bored with programming, switch to another language.

    i aint bored with the net yet. just all the verteran people are leaving. allt the Gurus have reached the top and there nothing to fight for anymore. as they are famouse.

    i aint losing interest yet, i still got much fame to find. And i aint bored with no languages, im still very much into Actionscript and C++. i soon will be learning PHP, just gotta figure out my server stats and stuff.

    anyways, just sometimes i wonder. new stuff will arise, and it will become interesting again. but until then, the internet is slowly dying out there.

    so yeah, and i programming in Java and C++, well, windows C++, and i must say, i dont really see any resemblance besides how you call functions and start them

    Code:
    BOOL isit, stuff;
    isit = FALSE;
    stuff = TRUE;
    if(isit == TRUE) {
    stuff = FALSE;
    } else if (isit == FALSE) {
    stuff = TRUE;
    }
    other than that, i really dont see too much of a resemblance

    I program in C++ at home and stuff, but in school the only class my High School offers is Java programming. The basic syntax is almost the same... if statments, switch statments, function calls, arrays are very similar.. there's more but I would be a lot to list.

    -_- you better not show me any more 'gay porn' type links... i'll have to show this to the people of FB...

    personally, i think this is going to be like a stock-market type thing... people have lost interest, but soon people will get bored enough of programming, etc. to not want to do it anymore, and then only the few that really want to do programming and stuff will be doing it, which will open up the job field. then companies will need more programmers, and then the marked will be flooded again...

    Listen up. When I first started using the Internet, there was no Macromedia Flash. It was called Futurewave Futuresplash, and it was an ActiveX control that animated the menus on Internet Explorer 3.0's default homepage, MSN.com. Flash was just an fancy menu maker back then, you hear me?! People still thought "virtual reality" could be done over the Internet with the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML), and HTML 3.2 was some new-fangled technology. Shutter to think that no one had yet thought of the Dancing Baby.

    Consider yourself lucky that you have all the animated widgimabobs that you do. I had to waste my time reading information about computers, history, politics, and other non-Flash-based interests that lacked animated cartoons. And I had 14.4k!
