It's quite a good idea, I think.

What else would you do with a body? Keep it forever. there's no point to keep something that is going to be useless to everyone, with no exception.

Just make sure it's healthy.

From a purely biological point of view and ignoring ethics etc - humans are not designed to eat other humans as this can give rise to transmissable spongiform encephalopathy.

In cows where they have been fed on animal protein this can give rise to BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy) - the exact nature of the transmissable agent itself is unknown but the current accepted theory is that it is a modified prion protein (possibly from scrapies infected sheep that have then gone into the food chain through the production of cattle feed).

In the 1950s the first human spongiform encephalopathy was investigated (called Kuru) in a set of New Guinea tribes. These tribes practised cannibalism as a mourning ritual (the women and children would eat the brains etc of their family members). It was then found that women and children in the tribe started suffering from a from of CJD (the men who did not take part in ritualistic cannibalism did not get the symptoms). Researchers have speculated that at some stage in the past a tribe member had CJD and this then spread to other members in the tribe who had eaten that tribe member and then down through the next few decades. Since ritual cannibalism has now stopped in the tribe kuru is now very rare - but has it has an incubation period for sometimes more than 20 years it does sometimes appear still (most patients die within 12 months to 2 years of the disease becoming 'active')

In the UK we now have v-CJD which is linked to BSE in cows (it is possible that this is in a lot of other countries but farming practises in the 70s and 80s where animal meal was fed to other animals is not always performed in other european countries). There is no idea how many people have been infected with this as the incubation period is incredibly long (poss 20 years) and it is always fatal. Therefore utilising human bodies as a food source would definately not be a good idea.

I personally wouldn't mnd to giv my organs to help someone (like they have ont he back of the driver's license, for transplant)... however, I dould not want to hav my body eaten by other humans, nor would I eat the body of someone else.... that's just plain nasty.

There are people waiting for a heart/kidney all the time, and I would give a part of my body to someone like that after I die... but NOT have it eaten!

I mean, I would certainly donate my organs but having my body grounded and pounded into little bits is just too gross...And for food too, how can you expect someonet to eat that! I am sure the animal rights groups will say something about giving it to the cats and dogs!

I wouldn't eat human meat, but I don't mind if others do. But, any of you who would do, what person wouldn't you eat?
