    What are the chances?

    Is it possible that machines will take over human civilization?

    Think Matrix style!

    No, I'm serious? What if?

    >>Is it possible that machines will take over human civilization?

    Not as long as there are still some of us that are smarter than the tools with which we work.

    Haven't they already? Think about all the people that can't program their VCR...or their toaster.
    Away.

    GET AWAY FROM THE UPS! RELEASE THE POWER CORD AND TAKE 3 STEPS BACK.

    If we are not carefull.. it is a possibality. But I really think that true full AI is not possible for the foreseeable future.

    I bet that there is going to be some type of AI that will be able to think like humans, maybe even reproduce?

    What is the possibility that we live in an exactly the same world as The Matrix described it? Or something similar?

    I would like to see some stats. Considereing a puter has an IQ of 0, I find that very hard to believe.

    I do think that a lot of people dont undersand that internals of computers and os's. Some people have no idea what they are doing with a computer (I do help desk work), but MOST of them are capable of learning. As I said before I dont think this will ever happen, unless an alien comes and dropped in there super-AI robots/puters/programs.

    Its still fun to watch the Matrix and see what is a possibality.

    thats just because a puter is not intelligent, however, most (the ones that dont use microsoft products) will do whatever they are programmed to do quite effectively....

    Code:
    void killMain() // void, yes void muahahaha
    {
    neverstop:

        if(humansResist())
             destroyAllLivingThings( death::PAINFULL );
        else
             deploy( robotMartini( laxin::VICTORY );

         goto neverstop;
    }

    You forgot:
    Code:
    try{
    // all that crap up there
    if(humansEatEachother)
    throw NukeEm()
    }
    catch(NukeEm())
    {
    totalRapingPillagingAndChildEating();
    }
    Haha, I'm lame.

    Are there any serious projects now out there that may go "out of controll"? Could there be a possibility that the US gov is hiding something?

    Look, take Deep Blue for example, it is almost impossible to beat! There are not that many people who actually beat that chess engine!

    There is a big difference between a machine that can calculate the best solution given a problem (like deep blue) and a machine that is self-aware and performs actions truely of it's own accord.
