Ok forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject but what the heck is a homophone. I've got some really bad ideas that I don't want to share

well, there is no such thing as a homophone (in singular)

but a set of homophones are some words that dound very-alike, but have complete different meanings

    such as

    poll-pole
    bear-bare

    or more like that

I don't have a dictionary handy, but shouldn't you be calling them
homonyms? I think homophones are object gay people use to
talk to one another over long distances, but I could be wrong.

homophone == same sound, different meaning and spelling
homonym == same sound and spelling, different meaning.

    Thanks, Adrian.

give another example, I don't hear that word everyday.

and by the way, I think that two homonyms don't have to sound alike, I have an example, but it's in spanish, so you wouldn't understand it..
