Let's see, the UK is making efforts toward decriminalizing it. So is Canada, especially for medical purposes (which is WAY more important than for recreational purposes). Holland has always cherished it (more of a don't ask, don't tell basis). Now, all of these places haven't went off the brink into higher crime rates [fact]. Why can't dear Uncle Sam learn from others actions?

    >Also it has been recommended that possession in small terms should not be an arrestable offence. <

California here in the states is like that. Too bad the federal government is a bunch of tight asses and won't make this a state issue rather than national...

I was in Amsterdam less than a month ago. The cops there take an opinion that "my efforts would be best employed eslewhere" approach to pot.

That's what I meant... I'm glad they do that too. I'd rather my city's cops worry about who's breaking into my house than what's in my pipe.

The only place where the cops will care about people smoking pot is in a city with extremly low crime and there bored (the kind of cops that arrest for a broken tail light). Marajuana is hardly enforced at all the only result of it being illigal is that it's not taxed(and its the US's number one cash crop). Marajuana does have several medical uses and hemp is much for cost effective for rope and paper than any other fiber.

about abbortion hows this situation if the baby has some disease that will kill it when it is young is it better to let it die a pain full death in a few years or to get rid of it when it has less then the brain development of a lab rat.

Everything you said about marijuana was right on the dot except for the thing about it not being enforced. Where I am, we have pretty high crime rate for our population. I live about 30 minutes away from Little Rock (AR's capitol) and it has (or at least did til recently) the highest murder rate per populus, meaning ratio-ly (new word?) the number of murders is highest in the nation. Cops enforce the weed laws down here like there's no tomorrow. It simply is a good way to collect money for funds. What gets me though is why don't they legalize it and tax it....

really I saw a documentary on marajana growing and its sounds like 90% of marajuna growers get away with it. Even if you are caught i heard its only a few weeks in jail.

No, no, no. Marijuana laws are pretty harsh, especially for "intent to distribute" offenses...

    Here's a listing of state-by-state punishments.

    >(the kind of cops that arrest for a broken tail light).

I got pulled over a while ago because the back
license plate light on the car I was driving
wasn't working. You know that little tiny
lightbulb that shines on the license plate?
Yeah, apparently it was serious enough for
the police to pull me over. Honestly, is this
a serious crime? It's just so ridiculous.

My best friend from about 6 years got into that stuft.
Now I can't even reconize him, sad sort of.
I think its much more serious than marajuna though.

"Yeah...well those people can be just as bad on alcohol....worse in my experience. I spent a large part of my life growing up in pubs and there is no doubt in my mind of how destructive booze can make people.
    "

you seem to be mistaken, when I say every drug, I mean alcohol too. Alcohol is a drug you know.

2 wrongs dont make a right.

Fair enough, but going back to your point you said you wanted all drugs made illegal. How less realistic is this view if you now lump alcohol in with drugs.

This isnt an ideal world, people will always screwup and the idea that criminalising all vices will help is a little too good to be true wouldnt you say? Anyway, again, as if criminalisation has ever worked in the case of hard drugs..... making soft drugs & booze illegal would, and has never worked....
