well, the way i see it, you can go ahead and complain. but it won't change much, and for most people, they don't have a choice to drive or not, especially getting to work, school, etc. Since you have to drive, you have to pay, so...

I cannot afford a car. I have to take Public Transit, which is depressing, then I have to put up with losers on it. Haha, in the U.S. the gas is so much damn cheaper than Here. Hmm.. we pay 89 Cents a Litre lately!!!!! BTW, the Gas Prices are going up because alot of the oil companies etc.. from Iraq, their share holders are selling because they are afraid that their shares will go down.

edit: omg, it wont let me post! It keeps saying error... error...

So when I'm having to drop like $30 a week on gas I'm going to get ........ed off. I have every right to get ........ed; I don't have the money to afford giving all of my money away on gas. Even if I did have the money I still wouldn't be happy about having to do it. Maybe if you worked you could have enough money to pay for a car and insurance then lets see what you say about the gas prices.

sorry for the overreaction above lol...

$30...about £18.....Jesus, you dont know you are born son!

I'ts about a $2.00 right now it got to be around $2.10 just a few weeks prior... it's begining to go down now though.

I think the fuel prices have done more than anything to ruin this economy - we've had a few spells that the gas dropped to $0.99 cents a gallon but that lasted only a few months and spiked back up to 1.50 or 1.60 a gallon...

Ummm so dont live in the middle of nowhere. Move nearer McDonalds-god knows why ANYBODY would drive 5 miles for that crap. Oh, and RUN to the GYM-think about this one.

We can $$$$$ about gas prices all we want. When you're like me and drive 30,000 miles a year gas prices matter. They matter a lot. At approx. 30 miles per gallon, and at $1.50 per gallon I pay about $1500 a year for gas. If that's not worth $$$$$ about, I don't know what it.
Lets see now...30k at 78p per litre------ok worked it out for you......STOP MOANING! See how cheap you have it....imagine you were a rep driving 30k PA in UK! So, you need to drive less miles or get a company fuel card!
    Such is life.

Gas is expensive ($1.39/gal. regular last time I filled up) but not quite as much as it was a month or two ago. The problem is more than its costliness; it's social.

Fast-paced suburban development has created a strongly car-oriented society. Neighborhoods are designed (or, really, not designed at all) in a sporadic fashion often creating very pedestrian- and alternative-transportation-hostile conditions. Now we are paying the price of the suburban boom, including the cost of having to drive to get Big Macs and supersized french fries because getting anywhere, even to a park, requires traversing busy roads and congested highways.

The price of gasoline is only an indicator of the greater cost our poorly planned community development has had on us. Finding alternative fuel sources will be a step in the right direction, but the deeper problem remains. It is up to everyone to reconstruct their frustration towards putting pressure on politicians and bureaucrats and changing some lifestyle choices to create a better, healthier society.

about 1.50 to 1.80 here in Maine. I don't see what the big deal is. Most vehicles get at least 18 miles per gallon, so even if it does take 30 bucks to fill up a tank of gas (assuming about 15 gallon tank and 2 bucks per gallon) you can still go 270 miles with that.

    EDIT:
and don't many new cars (not trucks or vans) get like 25+ mpg?

well, in SA it's R4.24 per litre (duno...you do the maths) But aparently it's going down by 40 cents 'cos the goverment aparently used the wrong formula to calculate the price of gas. OMG.....just to think of the bribery and coruption in this country!!!

Here petrol is $1.00 per litre ($4.50 per gallon)

And we are payed about the same as Americans.

    It varies +/- $0.10/L a day sometimes.

about the new fuel source thing, in bush's presidential address thingamabob not too long ago he said there was a group of scientists working to create a fuel source that obtains energy from 'a reaction between hydrogen and oxygen' and of course he slurred everything when he said it but that'd be interesting to look into.

yeah i do remember hearing about that i think it's something like the hydrogen ion battery. Where somehow the ions become charged and pass through a conductor where it getsmost of the energy supply. Granted this is a good start but I believe even this alternate fuel sorce still rely's on gasoline, somehow. But do correct me if i am wrong. I am just recalling what i read about 6 months ago.

The first cars that drive on hydrogen have already been released in the past few months and they do not need any gasoline. All they need is hydrogen and oxygen (air). I beleive that is a major breakthrough as the only omits water and the hydrogen will mostly be won by seperating it from water. The problem is however to get pure hydrogen you need power so fossil fuels will still be needed for some time and another problem is that it is quite hard to get hydrogen at petrol stations...

I rlly hope that i won;t take to long till they get all the cars in the world replaced with hydrogen ones. To bad however that the US will most likely ban em to protect it's oil industry.....

Further more i also wish to state that i sincerely hope that fuel prices will soon exceed $10 a gallon. Only then will people be motivated to find more efficient ways of moving themselves, something that is currently really needed in this world.
