Indeed. Opera is good. Why don't you just download a popup blocker?

Or better yet, click on the popups and generate a little revenue for the site.

i cant believe any company would think that popping an annoying window in someones face is a good way to get them to buy your product

I disagree with popups. If I see an Ad that Im interested in, I'll click it! Otherwise I'll just use a popup blocker like I am now, and generate no currency flow for any site. Actually, I turned the Pop-Up blocker I'm using off, and I have not had one popup from this site for a couple of days. Maybe their picking on you, their after you. It's like the truman show, you are the video, and we all pick on you.

Banners don't really bother me, but the pop-ups did it for me. Not only are they irritating in themselves, if you have the page loading in the background, it pops the browser and the popup up over the page you happen to be reading. So I killed the adserver, which means the banners go away as well.

By irritating with the popups, the ad house forced me to take stronger action then was really necessary - marketting types take note.

How pop-ups actually work? I'm really curious. Since almost all net surfers will click the close button, why they still come out with those irritating windows?

Some sites tell their users to click on some of the pop-ups to keep their site alive, but we can simply close the browser after clicking on the pop-ups can't we?

Can't understand the concept of pop-ups.

I agree completely. We all get a lot out of this site and it's all for free. Does it really hurt to click on a stupid picture then close the window? I actually haven't witnessed these so-called pop-ups because I have a blocker running all the time, but I'll turn it off while I'm on here. Lets give something back. No?

    Pop up .So what?

If you want a pop up free sight then open your own charity
    sight.

If we are collectivley not donating any thing to this sight,
the least we can do is to bear a couple of popups.

just like you and me, the sight got bills to pay.

Well you know what happened to the Energyzer bunny once? Well while he was doing his little "they keep going and going" stuff, and how he kept popping up everywhere, the ad campaing was so sucessful that people became annoyed with the bunny and sales started getting hurt, apparently people were trying to "suck it" to the bunny by not buying the batteries because they sort of started to hate him. True story.

Same thing could happen to these stupid pop ups instead of clicking on an ad once in a while they annoy you to a point that you just don't click at all, ANY of them, neither banners nor pop ups. Much like Adrian said.

i agree, but if its so much of a hassle to pay the bills why make the site free, i mean seriously?

if you click the pop-ups, not only are you supporting the site, youre supporting the pop-ups....i dont mind banners, i dont, but a pop up is just a paint, if im in the middle of loading a page, and another window pops up on top of it, thats crap, taking away time from the page i actually give a $hit about

Well you see, the thing doing those ads are probably some adware or spyware running in the background. I get no ads except for just one when I enter the site which has always been there and it doesn't "popup up." It goes behind the window. I'm using IE6 and no firewall, no ad-blocker, etc.

I think everyone needs to chill out a bit. I mean the ads and pop-ups are there to keep the site afloat financially and it's not exactly the end of the world when one of them appears on your screen is it? It takes what, 2 seconds to close it? On the grand scheme of things I really think it's a very trivial thing to get worked up about.
