    Stoned Coder -Effective C++

    I picked up 'Effective C++' second edition today. I'm starting the book tomorrow morning. Should take me about 3 days to finish since it is not very big. Did you know that there is a picture of a busharabian on the back? Almost scared me out of purchasing the book. I like the picture of the wolf on the front though. Maybe that man IS the wolf during the full moon? Anyway, I noticed it and it seems like the perfect book at this point because it looks at 50 ways to improve C++ code. Since I have a complete introduction to C++ already I will be able to understand the content of this book. You say there is a sequal? I didn't see it there.

    Well chapter 1 was good! Yeah, great way to learn. It mixes all the concepts into each chapter.

    You are reading that book at just the right time dean as you understand most of the concepts of OOP and yet haven't done enough coding of it to have developed too many bad habits!
    You will almost certainly constantly refer to that book and will be well thankful that you bought it.
    Free the weed!! Class B to class C is not good enough!!
    And the FAQ is here :- http://faq.cprogramming.com/cgi-bin/smartfaq.cgi

    Reading through it. It is very good. I'll read it through in it's entirety by the begining of next week. C++ is making a lot more sense to me. I still have a long way to go but I certainly have enough books to study C++ for the next 18 months. I'm used to writing C programs. If I make posts on the C++ board I'll probably make a few errors. Although I'm familiar with C++ I don't have much experience writing programs. I wrote 8 labs at school each one using cumulative C++ concepts, but I have never made my own C++ program where I had to design anything, such as a card game for example.
