Exclamation Just finished my corporate training courses, time to get a job!!!

Hey everyone, I'm not sure how many of you remember me, but I used to post here pretty frequently.

Anyways, I just finished my 6 month(700 hour) corporate training courses in c++ and c#. We had to finish the course off by writing two medium sized real world projects (within teams of coders), so I'm pretty ready to get a job as a professional programmer.

What tips would the professional programmers give me on this board (anything from specific to general) to help me out as a programmer.

I'm hoping to land a c# job position. I enjoy coding in c#, and did a lot of it while writing my aspect of the final two projects(I did the gui in both).

    Wish me luck.

Your timing is sub-optimal. The entire IT sector is in the doldrums, and has been for over a year. There are a lot of IT firms that have laid off staff, and customers are holding off buying into new systems while the economic climate is so fragile. Many IT houses that do have work, are sub contracting it out to cheaper developers in India and a few other places.

Thus, there are few jobs around, and if you do see one, you will be competing against numerous well qualified and experienced professionals.

The wise men say the recession is just about over, but I remember them saying much the same this time last year.

That said, you could be lucky and walk into a good job tomorrow, I'm just alerting you to the possibility that you may not. Use any "unemployed" time to learn more and practice.

right on the money! even the game-programming area is drying up, the industry is becomming more and more like hollywood every day, more "hit" driven...definately learn all you can, i dont think it'll be THAT hard, there are a lot of jobs out there still, just dont expect to walk into a big corparation.
