What's the big damn deal? Your reason for hating hotmail is a couple popups and the fact that other people can't jsut click through to your e-mail address?

I don't get any popup since I'm using a popup stopper *hint*.
Also, there is an option to store the name/password when you log in (uses cookies). This is not recommende if you are on a public computer though.

As someone pointed out, its a spam box. First thing you do is make an exclusive list, so that everyone who is on that list will go the junk box.
