    Question Scholarships

I'm going to highschool next year, so I have begun to think about scholarships. Are there any programming scholarships, or will I be stuck writing about Veterans' Day?

    Thx in advance

BTW: How do I insert pictures in my threads? When I hit the IMG button I get this:
Script Promt: Enter the text to be formatted...
I hit enter and come up with this

this is better as a GD thread

but, there are numerous scholarships out there. there are many places you can search that will help with the scholarship search.

    www.fastweb.com is one of them.

If you have a good guidance consoler, they will be able to help. My HS counselor found a couple of programming contest that I entered to win $$ for college (didn't win).

And work your ass off, they only give scholarships to the best. I'm looking into all this stuff now (I'm a HS Junior) and it's just a pain in the ass.

lol, I took the C++ course in freshman year...they didn't even get into the "real" C++, and they expected kids to take the AP. Next year they're switching into Java...it's going to be a disaster

I'm a HS senior as well.

As for working your ass off. Yes I agree. But they also look for commitment. Stay commited to a few tasks, instead of joining so many and only doing so much with each one. Colleges also look into commitment.

    Best of luck!

Yeah, the same thing happened in my HS, but they switched a year earlier than I could enter the class! Gah, now I'm stuck in Java and having to teach myself C++.. (not SO bad so far...). You had to take a typing class freshman year before you could enter Computer Science and I didn't take it so I had to take it in 10th grade... Thus getting into Comp Science in 11th grade.. one year too late for C++

I know. Laziness is so tempting. But with 5 APs, I can't. But I am, I do. I get the work done, just not as fast as I used to. Combination of laziness, and wanting to hang out with friends more. But I get the work done on time, so I guess that's what counts; and my grades are still high, so...

For scholarships, see what scholarships your high school may offer so you can see if you'd be eligible for those. Look for need-based grants, and bug your counselor often to see if there are any scholarships elsewhere that they think you might be able to get.
