    >From the programmers community I am protesting the war!
“Please! Stop the war! Let the children play, let them grow in a beautiful environment, let the next generation come forward through contests, through challenge and merit. Let us all unite and heal the world!”

    I want to hear:

"All Quiet On The Iraq Front!"<

Well...Saddam Hussein was once a child in a beautiful environment, as was Gearge Bush, Osama Bin Laden, Jesus
Christ, Mohammed, and all the other "prophets" past and future
who have or will have graced our world with their presence. So,
let me ask you, oh humanitarian sir, just what was so darned good about letting their generations come forward to heal this
    hurting world?
    No. Wait. Don't hang up!

    This is America calling!

    Free ? Democratic even ?

Btw.: Is it true that in American TV no pictures of the coalition prisoners or casualties are shown ?

You can find stills of the video at http://www.aljazeera.net/special_cov...iraq/index.htm

The pictures are graphic. There may be a link to a video
somewhere, but I don't read that language.

Usually that's not done until after the families have been notified, but they're shown after that. I know that if my son/daughter was killed, I wouldn't want to find out about it from seeing their body on CNN.

    >I agree, protesting is our right, but I think that during a war, we
    >should not be protesting.

A difficult thing. I am against war. But in my opinion demonstrating against a war should be done before the war. When the war starts in spite of the public opinion, then don't demonstrate against the war.

I wonder if those people who are currently demonstrating against a war realise what the consequenses of stopping the war immediately would have for the Iraqi people, Saddam Hoessein would punish those Iraqi people for supporting the allied armies and the Iraqi people would feel being let down, and I wonder if those demonstrating people have an alternative.

Most of those which I have spoken don't have one. They only tell me that Bush must stop the war, because war is bad. Certainly, I totally agree that war is bad. But stopping this war right now is not good for the Iraqi people.

Also it is a little bit strange, I have never seen so many people demonstrating against the oppression of Saddam Hoessein. I don't like the politics of Bush, but I also don't agree with current demonstrations which are only against Bush. Just like I have never seen such large demonstrations against the oppression of the people in Tibet by the Chinese. I think it (also) has to do with the media, there is so much attention of the media for this war. In my opinion there is too much attention for this war.

What Shiro said is some of what I was trying to get at. We need to be supporting our troops, pro-war or anti-war, at this time it shouldn't matter.

    >>Btw.: Is it true that in American TV no pictures of the coalition prisoners or casualties are shown ?

It was reported in Australia that the Army asked the media not to show the images.

    But then showed them all.

    Then D Rumsfelt was on.

Bitterly complaining how Iraq was violating the Geneva convention by showing images of its small victory (in capturing some US POW's).

I was thinking of the US held 'illegal combatants' in Camp X_Ray nearly 18 months without any hope (seeing they are outside US law according to US Judges.

"In a unanimous decision, a three-judge appeals court panel upheld an earlier District Court ruling that found US courts do not have jurisdiction over prisoners being held at the US Navy base at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba."

So under what law are they being held? Why have they not been tried like the US Taliban fighter John Lindt?

    http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/story_23370.asp

Then the media showed a bunch of US marines with guns guarding Iraqi prisoners sitting in rows and others surrendering with white flags.

    Whats the difference here?

Here i am talking only in military venue. so dont get teary
    eyed yet. thank you.

If i was an american general(dreams r legal)
i would think that the biggest threat to american victory
would be the paparatzi US media which magnifies and
repeats after repeats after repeats every little hurdle
faced by american troops. like report of that one single
grenade attack on the 7th cavalary division. or that single iraqi
pickup truck that brought to a halt a whole division for 2 hours.

when an iraqi sees that he cant help but to get more confident
that any thing he does no matter how minimal will affect the
way this huge armada is going to progress.

you cant go to a war expecting ppl to invite you in for cookie
    &tea.
setting a 3 or 4 day deadline by some media consultants for
american troops to be in baghdad is the most disservice they can do to their country.
(it could be done in desert storm by bush sr)
but not the way they started this one with such a rush to start
a ground campaign based on info provided by CIA.and no element
of surprise + no 4th + embeded paparatzie on humvie who start shouting danger when they see an iraqi goat.

I believe americans should kick out the media. start securing
south within and up to 60 miles from baghdad call it free iraq
.wait for 2 - 3 weeks(the opposition groups setup government)
then when sychodam hussein is demorilized by aerial bombing
    , go in.

you cant blitzcrick your way across a country if an armed
pickup truck can bring the whole division to a halt.

if Germans wanted to blitzcrick this way they would have
    been in moscow by 1956.
(which would have been a good thing for them because stallin
    died in 1956)

The difference is that the US is not allowing journalists to interview the iraqis and humiliate them - like the iraqis are doing with questions like "Why did u come here? to kill iraqis? have u been met with bullets or flowers? why did u shoot at the iraqi civilians?

This is public humiliation and a clear violation, it is the same as in the vietnam war when the NVA took shot down american pilots and marched them around hanoi - so they could be pelted and beaten by the public - some of which were killed - I make little distinction here - if it wasn't for the US reaction and threat to treat any mistreatment as a war crime that the iraqis have decided to abide by the rulez - however i'm positive that these troops would've been on the slate to be DANIEL PEARL'd...

I agree that the US media is publicizing too much the small engagements - every death and incident of injury - it's not very tactical and I doubt the press will be given the same access next war... There will be very soon however a major engagment as we get to the city limits of Baghdad and the US military 'STEEL WAVE' who has encountered little resistance will engage saddam's last line of defense... the battle will probably be summed up by the media as a SMASHING victory for the US forces who will begin to seige baghdad...

Im sure the tune will change and the gloating of the iraqi regime will be wiped away in a few dayz... as saddam's propoganda doesn't reach beyond the limitz of baghdad and the REALITY sets in to all of saddams supporters that he is finished and the US will remove him most likely by killing him...

Blood has been spilled - american blood - and so it will be a fight to the death - don't make too much of the iraqi resistance so far as it will not last and to those anti-war protesters who i believe wish for a US defeat - they will once again eat their own SH***T

    >>have u been met with bullets or flowers? why did u shoot at the iraqi civilians?

This was not asked on the footage I saw.

The POW's were asked where they were from and one was asked why he came.

If all was for OIL then we could stop the war, obviosly - as all of iraqs oil assets are in our hands -- You are a fool...
