    The only beating up you'll be giving is in the dream your having while your sleeping on the field.

    I am here!!!

    I just got kinda busy with school and stuff. I've been programming a lot in Python, rather than C++. I have a part time job as a 'Student Systems Programmer' (my first 'programming' job, yay!) at my university, but, unfortunately, I haven't done a lot of programming on the job.

    My university's Student Linux Users Group is running a tetrinet server 24/7, feel free to connect to ruslug.rutgers.edu and play. It's been fairly popular, checking the logs reveals about 1000 connections in 3 weeks, ~50 connections/day, not too shabby.

    Windows client for tetrinet can be downloaded here, Linux client here.

    If you want to hear a sad story, in my Principles of Programming Langauges class, we are to complete this fairly simple assignment in C, in which

    A. the project is built in such a way that a .c file is #included
    B. We don't have to free any malloc'ed memory, as that is left to the OS.
    C. Originally, before I sent email to the teacher, we were supposed to malloc memory based on the length of the average word in the English langauge, such that any text with above average word length would overflow the buffers.

    So anyway, that's what I've been up to.

    Its quite funny to see people scramble to state that they were here so long ago.........

    Frankly I'm not bothered with the amount of time I've been here.....some of the most impressive posters here only arrived after we changed to VBulletin......so saying that you were here all that time ago doesnt carry much weight IMO

    Fordy, your membership was never in question!

    Gov't did a supreme job of cataloging everyone, but more needs to be said about Dean. He was a nice guy, a little overzealous, but why kick him off like that? We could have tolerated him couldn't we? Anyway he's probably expounding the virtues of OOP and .NET somewhere right now this very minute!

    This board is really amazing actually. Over 7000 members, and I was like number 10, ha!

    I joined on back when the old board was two or three months from closing - Stee (Salem) answered my first question I remember [and he was damn right too!], and I never had the chance to say anything completely intelligible until after this board sputtered to life.
    Code:
    #include <cmath>
    #include <complex>
    bool euler_flip(bool value)
    {
        return std::pow
        (
            std::complex<float>(std::exp(1.0)),
            std::complex<float>(0, 1)
            * std::complex<float>(std::atan(1.0)
            *(1 << (value + 2)))
        ).real() < 0;
    }

    I remember the Gbonny stuff, and the dayknight stuff. I've been here long enough to have a stalker try and weave me into his web.
    The world is waiting. I must leave you now.

    >>> but more needs to be said about Dean.

    Dean is/was a strange character. Sometimes he'd be perfectly lucid and even helpful, other times he would launch troll after troll and pretty nasty stuff too. His swings of opinion are the stuff of legend, strongly anti-MS, then strongly MS, then back again.

    Ultimately, he became to much work. He went on a series of rampages using a row of aliases. He was banned, a while later his account was opened again, and once he noticed that, he came back and carried on where he left off. So he was banned again.

    You can enjoy Dean at FD if you want.

    > expounding the virtues of OOP and .NET

    Nope, the seasons changed, and so did Dean's preferred rant. "MS is an evil empire and the US is a nation of terrorists" is the current flavor of the week. Gotta say, though - he's one of the most interesting people I've ever seen on the Internet (and if it wasn't for him no one here would probably know who I was - the first big thread I did was CrystalSky's Linux thread on the old board that quickly turned into me and Dean flaming each other, at least until Sunlight took over for me)

    He's like that insane uncle that we keep locked up in the closet . The only problem is that we can still here is rantings through the ceiling

    Yeah, good thing Sunlight took over...you were about a flame away from getting run over by a rogue 4x4

    Hmmm...I remember when me and Dean had about a month where we hit-and-run flamed eachother in every thread
