yea.. but then people would spam to get to 500 or whatever then they'd just wait

It should be rewarded by mod's for activity. If people post alot of good answers and questions, they should get the title option. If they ask alot of do my homework questions, spam or troll, they should be either booted or not given the title. Simple as that, or maybe not simple, just that. I dunno, that's just my opinion.

EDIT: I also think people should be rewarded from the IRC, because I've gotten alot of help from them, alot of effort over there. If only there was more activity.

Custom titles and avatars shouldn't really be a reward. No point in building some foolish prestige system based around being ``good'' enough to receive such priviledges. Letting a new member with 0 posts have an avatar won't hurt people with 1000 posts :l

I agree with ggs. I have said several times that the business of having post thresholds for things like that invites spam. The powers that reign have said, "it is fun" so there you go ggs, it is not a foolish prestige thing, "it is fun".

I think postcounts and titles are way over-rated.

Too many people view post counts as a, whats the word, a status so to speak. They seem to think a higher pc makes them l337 or something.

I say do away with pc totally, then just let them set their title, that'll drop spam.

I believe it was you who started to yell at silvercord (?) because he was a newbie (when actually it was Shadow#### (I don't the numbers of the name) registered under a different name). So making statements like that only shows your hipocracy.

"I also didn't learn opengl from you, newbie. I also am well aware that you don't know what the extent of my knowledge is."

"I am done with cprogramming for a while, some one email me when the ****ing newbs get a clue."

    linky

Sorry, but I find it funny that you of all people would say something like that. I think I remember you doing this to another person on GD, and you came out and apologized to everyone, as well. Hmmmmm... Not to mention that you have over 3000 posts, and you've only been registered under that name since Sept.

    ---------------------------------------

Anyways, I don't see titles and avatars as prestige. If it were harder to obtain a custom title and an avatar, then when you do get it (without actually striving to get it) it would be like when you find money that you didn't even know you ever had. It's a nice, little, extra bonus in a way. At any rate, none of it really matters. Good day now...

It was shadow, and i was annoyed at how an apparent newbie could know how much i know. He still doesnt know how much i know, and i still dont care that it was him. The assumption of newb based on the pc was fine to make. I'm not saying pc doesnt seperate those who have more time, wether concentrated or not, then those who dont, i am merely saying a huge pc is worthless. Please explain to me the point of having a huge post count? Sure i have a huge pc...ooooooooooooooooooo big $$$$ing deal. It doesnt help me sleep at night, i dont post to raise it, and i dont really give two $$$$s about it. In IRC a little while back the topic of pc's came up, and i didnt even know how many i had, i thought i had 1500 or so, because i dont care about it.

Yeah, that's cool; sorry for bringing it up. I thought I still had around 500 posts from back in fall, but no, I have 900 now. I didn't even realize I had that many posts, either. Actually enough, though, a lot of your threads/posts on GD are interesting, so keep postin' away por favor.
