Well I'm a moron.
I've been learning a bit about AI and thinking of doing some programming in that area, and I was looking around and found a downloadable tutorial (or so I thought). I downloaded the file, and my virus scanner caught something. So I went to delete the file, but everytime I do, I get the message:
Cannot delete tutorial: Access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
How the heck do I delete this?
It's not your virus scanner that has grabbed it and is "protecting you from yourself" is it? Have a look at the virus scanner's screen.

I guess not. I just disable the scanner and tried again - same problem.
Are you sure it's not running?
yeah, try to disable the application by 'ctrl+alt+del' ing and then see if you can delete it.
Restart your pc in dos mode. That is if you don't have WinXP.
If you have WinXP, make a boot disk and start again. This also depends whether you you have NTFS or FAT32. The boot disk doens not detect NTFS disks but only FAT32.

try restarting the computer in 'safe mode' and then delete the file.
Whoever it was that told me to do Ctrl+Alt+Del, thanks. I had already done that, but I only checked the applications tab, and not processes. Tutorial.exe showed up there, I cancelled it, and it deleted fine. Thanks a lot guys!
I'm not sure if I'm thinking the right way, but this happened to me once too! Make sure its not write protected! Also if it is a .exe file then make sure it exidently didn't get put into startup folder!
But the best thing to do... Would be to delete the file from DOS.

Well like I said, it deleted fine because it was actually running as a process, but I may need to do that in the future. I needed to do that one when I was wandering what the 'New Briefcase' thing in the (then) new Windows 95. So I made a briefcase on a floppy disk, and it wouldn't delete! Anyway - I'm using XP. Can you get MS-DOS emulators for XP?
