Maybe you missed my point, how can someone who has retired from international competition be the new international captain?

I don't think that there is any such rule in the cricket constitution which prohibits it. Retirement and comeback is a decision left to the players. It's true in other sports too ... If I'm not wrong, I think Boris Becker too retired from tennis, after which he again came back to take a last shot at Wimbledon.

A lot of rain overnight and more later a strong possibility, but anyway, India batting first, so Kenya under the lights.

    India 270 for 4 off 50
    Kenya 179 a.o. for 7 off 46.2

    India win by 91

Very economic start by the Kenyan bowlers, but with wickets in hand, the batsmen rather ran away with it in the last 10 overs. Good score.

Well, all over for Kenya, but what an effort, under the light too! Fabulous.

About the run rate presumably, not exactly electric is it. Still, Kenya have to bat under the lights.

whoompa ! ... India beat Kenya by 91 runs

Finals on 23rd March. India vs Australia !!!
I'm going to enjoy it when I see Tendulkar thrashing Brett Lee and McGrath to all parts of the ground (just as he did to Shoaib Akhtar ).

Waiting for the big Big Show !!!

US attack in Iraq dominated the global attention than Cricket World Cup 2003, even in South Asia.

So, the BIG one! India win the toss and decide to put Australia in.

    Australia 359 for 2 off 50
    India 234 a.o. 39.2

    Australia win by 125.

Superb, highest ever Aussie one day score! Absolutely marvellous knock by Ricky Ponting 140 not out off 121 balls ably assisted by Damien Martyn, not out 88 off 84. India bowled 37 extra's, poor.

Now the Indian batsmen certainly have the capability, on what is obviously a good pitch, let's see if they have the mental strength to chase that monster score!

Off the rate, quick wickets going down. Required rate back under 10, but I can't see India batting it out now.

    Australia: 359/2 after 50 overs
India: 4/1 after 1 over in progress

    Congratulations to Australians
    Champion, Cricket World Cup 2003

Prediction is as definite as USA will succeed to conquer Iraq.

What a classy way to win the world cup. Score your countries highest ever one day score, the highest ever score in a world cup final, and then bowl out a class batting line up like India for a huge win.

A truly great performance. Well done.

The aussies once again show their dominance of world cricket. There isn't a team that can match them. They are awesome and thoroughly deserved the win.
Maybe sometime in my lifetime i'll be able to say the same for the england boys although unfortuneately I cant see that happening.
Free the weed!! Class B to class C is not good enough!!

Some of my friends and myself had decided to watch the finals on pay-per-view. We stopped watching from the moment Tendulkar departed ... Full credit to the Aussies. It was an excellent batting performance which took the match away from India.
India has got a very young team this time. Hopefully all the youngsters will be polished by the next world cup. Oh well ...

    >.It was an excellent batting performance which took the match away from India.

At 37 overs the commentator was saying 320 looked possible.......

Ponting's 10 off the last two balls of the Aussie innings said it all.

Ponting also set the highest number of sixes scored by an Australian in ODI.

Actually I can easily say that Australia is far ahead of all other Cricket teams around the world. And future will witness.
