I guess Sri Lanka has better stability and chance to final.
    Sri Lanka Vs Australia

    Anyway.. lets see.

I think India started badly in the first round and slowly improved, Sri Lanka were up and down with some truly disasterous matches. I would never discount Sri Lanka, but on the performances in the first round, I think India are a bigger threat in the Super Six than they are, but what do I know, that is only my view of things to date.

    First Super Six game underway!

Australia win the toss and decide to bat.

    Australia 319 for 5 off 50
    Sri Lanka 233 for 9 off 47.4

    Australia win by 96

Gilchrist run out on 99, stupid mix-up! Ponting's 114 off 109 balls. Fine score by the Aussies.

Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya has to retire hurt, reducing the batting side to 10. Jayasuriya has not, as was feared at the time, broken his arm.

    Todays other game.

Kenya to bat first, India therefore under the lights later...

    Kenya 225 for 6 off 50
    India 226 for 4 off 47.5

    India by 6 wickets

Late flurry of runs and wickets see Kenya rack up a respectable score. Swashbuckling 33 off 23 balls for Maurice Odumbe. Excellent.

Sachim tendulkar's first failure in the Cup. A true captains innings from Sourav Ganguly in all probability has saved India from what would have been a very significant defeat. Well played.

    Superb game.

yeah ! It would have been quite a debacle if ganguly had not clicked today. Anyway, Australia proved why they are called world champions in a unique fashion; totally devastaing the lankan bowling. I really feel sorry for gilchrist. I expected him to finish his century in style.

Zimbabwe have won the toss and will bat.

    Zimbabwe 252 for 7 off 50
    New Zealand 253 for 4 off 47.2

New Zealand win by 6 wickets

Brilliant run flurry at the end of Zimbabwes innings, 62 runs coming from the last 18 balls to give a resprectable total. I wish I'd seen that!

Brian Murphy will not be able to play this afternoon as he was injured during lunch!

Natham Astle finishes on 102 not out.

As a total aside, I see Allan Donald has officially retired from international cricket. Good luck to the man, damn fine cricketter.

    >>> How did you know that ?

You are not registered, (most registered people have their location field filled). I was curious as to where in India you would be, so I used an internet tool to locate you, and it returned Ohio.

I was so suprised, (that someone in the US would be interested in cricket), that I had to check, hence my message. I would have PM'd you, but, you are not registered so don't have a pm account!

Still, someone in America who knows his cricket - there is hope for us all yet!

Good effort by the Aussies. Still Sri Lanka has the ability to score 350+ but did not look like they wanted to play on the day.

Sri Lanka win the toss and decide to put India in.

    India 292 for 6 off 50
    Sri Lanka 109 a.o. off 23

    India win by 183

Tendulkar holing out on 97. Excellent batting and bowling from India. A huge win.

Nightmare for Sri Lanka. Five ducks! Jayawardene, one of the ducks, has so far scored only 16 runs in the World Cup. If it hadn't have been for the last wicket heroics, Sri Lanka would have been out for less than 100.

Seems Sri Lanka is tired today. They will find difficulty if they lose today.
