Pity the Dutch aren't watching their team. They've played a beauty, including Hollands first and second ever international centuries and recording hollands highest ever international score and the second highest score of the World Cup! Great effort.
Holland 314 for 4 off 50.
Namibia 250 a.o. off 46.5
Holland win by 64.
Good day for Feiko Kloppenberg, 121 runs and 4 wickets from his 10. Fairly dramatic collapse from Namibia going from 209 for 4 to 250 a.o. in 6 overs. Reasonable figures from the Namibian top order but no life in the tail. Hollands first World Cup victory - congratulations.
In todays second game...
Canada 196 a.o. of 47.
New Zealand 197 for 5 off 23
New Zealand win by 5 wickets.
John Davison knocks 75 off 62 to give an appreciable score to Canada.
Unsuprising victory. Some alarming bowling figures against the Canadians, Codrington going for 33 off 2 overs and patel only a little better going for 32 off 3.
In todays final game...
Sri Lanka 268 for 9 off 50
South Africa 229 for 6 off 45 *** in progress ***
South Africa must win today, however they are batting under the lights which seems to really be problematic during the Cup.
Attapattu's century coming off 113 balls. Attapattu, (124 off 129), and Da Silva, (73 off 78), both out within a few balls. Wickets tumbling now but SL can aford it and the score is still ticking along.
SA need 56 off 36, starting to rain - may go to Duckworth Lewis. Arrrgggh - raining hard now! If there's no resumption, SA go out.

SL 268/9 ... SA in trouble. I hope the top order clicks today. Lance Klusener will do the needful for the lower order
So Sri Lanka / South Africa goes to a draw under Duckworth Lewis, and hence SA go out. What a sad way for it to end. Good game otherwise, swung up and down, still think it unlikely that SA would have caught SL, but now we'll never know.

Yeah...Its a pitty. Hoped my country could have gone through to the super sixes. We only needed one run to win the match though!!
The knack of flying is learning to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
I have never seen such a tragedy.
I like to support SL but wanted badly SA in Super Six. I have observed last 3 World Cup (Including 2003), SA is never lucky.

>> So I open the BBC's ball-by-ball service and found England are taking the game to the Aussies by collapsing majestically after a rather fine start - odd, I don't remember Nasser saying anything about that in the plan!<<
It was a plan so cunning you could have pinned a tail on it and called it a fox......pity Nasser did not tell Bevan about it. Bevan saves the Aussies again in a world cup.
I think that is 12 in a row for the Aussies.

So away we go again. Important game for England this, as if Pakistan beat Zimbabwe, but not by a huge amount, England can still go through. Weather forecast dubious. Match reduced now, first to 46 overs then 44 then to 38 due to rain interruptions.
Pakistan 73 for 3 off 14 *** in progress ***
Zimbabwe 0 for 0 off 0 *** yet to bat ***
Match abandoned due to rain. 2 points each.
Pakistan won the toss and will bat first. Poor Inzamam is still in terrible form, surviving just 8 balls for 3 runs.
Australia, India and Zimbabwe go through to the next round.
Todays other game...
West Indies 246 for 7 off 50
Kenya 104 a.o. 35.5
West Indies win by 142 runs
Another short innings from Brian Lara. Lovely knock by Chris Gayle, 2 sixes and a 4 in the 46th over, finally out for 119.
Kenya all out for less thsn Chris Gayles knock, definitely not their day! Useful 5 wicket haul for Vasbert Drakes. Good performance from the WIndies, but too late to change the final table placings.
Sri Lanka, Kenya and New Zealand go through to the next round.

I have a gut feeling that the finals will see a tough contest between India and Australia
No games now until 7th.
Looking at the super six, I think also, an Australia/India final may be in prospect. Sri Lanka have had a few iffy moments but can never be discounted. I can't see any of the others making an impression.
It is sad that politics and the weather have had an impact on the first round. There has also been a lot of controversy over the day/night games, the day batting side do seem to have had the balance of the luck in those games, but who's to say.
Whatever, bad luck those teams going out, congratulations to the Super Six teams, and let's look forward to some great cricket yet to come.

I won't be watching any matches until after the super six. It seems very boring than the first round. I guess both Aus and India will win all their games; Srilanka, Zimbabwe and New Zealand will fight it out among themselves. ... yawn ! ... I'll just read the headlines for the next 2 weeks. (more yawns !!!)
Hands up if you picked Kenya to qualify second (or at all).
>>It is sad that politics and the weather have had an impact on the first round.
Pity, looks like it cost England a place.
