Eniac was built in america during WW2, it was made to figure out artillery projectile paths. Although, Great britain was instrumental in creating the internet.

I have heard from somewhere, that the first was a classified project that was code named "cyclops". It was at a location somewhere in London. The computer was used to decode Enigma messages sent by the Germans to their field commanders.

Yes, in away the British were the creators of the internet, but it was more european in origin. Tim Berners Lee along with a co-worker working at CERN the high energy physics research laboratory in Geneva Switzerland developed what we know today as the World Wide Web. The University of Illinois was instrumental in the CERN effort, developing the world's first web browser software called "mosaic".

If my memory serves me correctly the first real computer was built in 1830's - 1840's from Charles Babbage design, he came from London I think and died before it was finished(tough luck!)
I don't suppose it could be classed as a super computer by todays standards but it must have been mind blowing back then
It was called the "Analytical Engine".

Yes !, C_CODER. It was a remarkable machine for 19th century technology !

I remember hearing on what I now believe was the PBS show NOVA, that members of the Cyclops project were forced to destroy the computer and destroy all documents pertaining to it. They were very sad to do this.

I also believe that one of the team members was a man by the name Alan Turing (I think I spelled his last name correctly). Thats a name that rings a bell in the computer programming world !

Britain making the internet? Actually it started out as an American military network. It was designed to be sustainable even if half the computers in the network went out, or more even. It was originally called ARPANET, and at the moment I can't remember what that stands for. You may be right in the fact that Europeans were responsible for the world wide web, but the internet was started by Americans.

Babbage designed the computer but he never built it.
He is called the grandfather of the computer, but not the father
    of the computer.

The ENIAC is considered the first computer, ie there must be some way to program with it, do calculations, and store results.

If you have a chance to go by the NSA building there's a
    crpto museum, I think.

The sand dial wasn't considered a success as every time it got windy it blew away or some big guy came and kicked it to bits

If you don't want to accept the sand dial than I have to make the case that the pyramids were the first computer. Think about it.
