    Exclamation Google answers

    Hello,

It seems that a lot of the questions asked in the forums these days are answered by people posting Google search links. Can Google answer every single question people have? Can it tell me the meaning of life?

Perhaps the non-GD forums should be closed and replaced by a script that takes keywords out of questions and passes them to Google?

Not a rant as such, just a "sign of the times" sort of observation.

The answer to this question is already well known throughout the entire universe. Ask anyone... its 42!

No doubt... I thought that that knowledge was a pre-requisite to be allowed near a compiler...

Well, at least you were enlightened eventually.

People say to learn programming, you should read books by Petzold, K&R, Stoustrup and all them. They're wrong. To understand the most important parts of programming, you need to read Douglas Adams.

The way I see it, this place should be for helping people with problems that they have been unable to solve themselves, and for occasionally giving advice...not for giving info that is already readilly available just because the poster cant be bothered to look for it.......

If you cant seek resources unaided then do yourself a favour and quit. Goolge can give so much that its criminal not to use it

not that it would make a huge difference, but we could place at the top of those help forums a box that says "Search the C++ Database", "instant help" etc and just have that box link to google, ie u type something in it searches google :P

I don't know if that'll help, Since nobody even bothers to read
the rules at the top of the forum nor searching the forums before
    asking.

The internet is a vast pile of information. Knowledge is power. Sometimes I get the feeling 90% of the people online have the equivalent of a encyclopedia at their fingertips and use it to swat flies. If they could just open the book, they would be so much more than just "hip" because they're "online".

She was so Blonde, she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice can because it said "Concentrate."

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.
