    The pc that time forgot....

Someone has given me 2 naff pcs for me to get enough parts to build a working computer that at least can surf the net....

They are both 486's running @ 66mhz, each with 8mb RAM, and the CMOS battery has run out on one of them.....

    This should be amusing......

Its definitely do able...I remember getting my old 486 to run on the internet. It had those same stats (only the CMOS batter worked). The modem was an old 14.4k modem...but it got me on the internet! It let me check my email....then 56k came out and we got that...that was so much faster than that old 14.4...

Yeah..one pc had 2 simm banks and 4 slightly smaller than sim banks (at least I guess they must be memory of some sort). The bank of 4 was full of chips and the one of the normal sims had a chip. This pc went into win95 and had 8mb. I added another sim from the other pc and got it up to 12mb. LOL - he should have fun with that

There was a huge spider's web in one and I think the HDs have 2gig a piece. Im doing this as a favour.....usually I charge to fix pcs, but the cost would be more than the value of the end result.

Keeps me off the streets though.......
