I lived in England for very many years, and so always support England, but hell, I was willing the guy to his half century! Puts the rest of their batting line up to shame!

Got to fancy England against a pretty poor showing India.

One would hope so, however growing up in England has taught me one certain fact, there's nothing whatsoever consistent or predictable about the performance of an English national sporting team.

No? The words "collapse" and "batting", (not necessarily in that order), spring to mind. Still, at least now, we don't have to sit on the edge of our seats waiting for untold seconds for Atherton to be out stupidly wafting outside off! There are some promising new players.

After today, I would certainly hope for a result against India, and that farcical situation with the Zimbabwe match should be forgotten, and then, resurgent, England in the super six round can collapse majestically in front of the worlds cameras, ( hell, I wish one of those damn cameras output was available here!!!).

How about the fastest century in World cup history to a Canadian that can't make the Aussie team (he plays for South Australia). Then a great knock to Lara so it was all in vain.

What do you think about Shane Warne's 1 year ban? Was it enough / too much? Can he come back?

Well, regardless of whether or not it was performance enhancing, he was found to have used a banned substance, and should be punished.

I still find it incredible that he would try something intentionally at the World Cup where it was pretty much inevitable it would be detected. There have been several comments about him be basically a good guy but doing some spectaculaly stupid things from time to time. Perhaps a year ban will teach him to be less stupid?

If the stuff was banned, and he had it in him, and he knew it, then he has cheated. No place in cricket for cheats.

Hampshire are standing by him, even if he misses the first year, and of course, there will be an appeal.

I think with a few England batsman hitting a little form, some reasonable bowling and a pretty good field, they stand a good chance against India who, against any serious opposition, have not done terribly well so far.

I thought the reported domestic reaction to the poor performances was tragic. All sportsman have bad days.

The England batting line-up is no match against it's Indian counterpart. Anyway, I'll be watching the match tomorrow.

nope, no player has been murdered so far. Even though India and Pakistan are arch rivals, we do have a mutual respect and admiration for the players on the other side. Pakistan has produced quite a number of pace bowlers in the recent past while we are still in search for one after Kapil Dev and Srinath nearing the end of his career.

Exactly. Just not cricket.

I am glad he did not get off. I would like to see him play but was worried that the Aust Cricket Board would go lightly on him and loose its credibility.

As to his random acts of stupidity, I doubt anything could change that.

That is not cricket. Unfortunately, there will always be people that will use any excuse to stir up trouble. They have no place in cricket.

A fudge is always a risk, but after a few scandals; I think the authorities are quite keen to stamp on anything dodgy to keep the game clean and, well, cricket. It seems he will not be appealing the ban...
