DSL speed packages that your ISP offers

What's the fastest your ISP sells for an ADSL internet connection? Mine is going to be selling a 2.3Mbps/128Kbps now and I'm wondering if that's above average (it's a privately owned organization, not verizon or any large franchise. It's actually run by the real life version of homer simpson. www.skow.net)

I can't get DSL in my area, but the fastest cable I can get is 768 down (and it's too damn expensive )

I have ADSL 1,25 MBps downstream for (only ?) 50$ per month.

the dsl I have right now connects at 704Kbps down 128 up, and I'm actually very satisfied with it (I don't need more bandwidth for anything). If I pay for it monthly it costs the same as your 768 cable, but we pay for an entire year all at once and it comes down to 55 /month. I'm surprised that they offer that small of a bandwidth package for cable. My friends who have adelphia can get t3 speeds at night

you mean 1.25Mbps? And yes there's a difference.

EDIT: I'm just wondering if there are any other dsl packages anywhere that even offer 2.3Mbps as a service rate. I doubt I'd end up getting the 2.3 but it's nice to have the option. I just emailed my isp and the 2.3 isn't available yet (another month) therefore it's not even posted on skow.net

    3.3Mbps down, 128Mbps up
Cable here can go up to 6Mbps à 7Mbps (Oh why did I choose ADSL instead of cable )

DSL usually stays at constant speed, where cable can bog down easily.

I get 24.0 Kbps down, if I'm lucky. Sometimes I connect at 21.6Kbps. That's why I hate living in the country, we got those damn analog phone lines, and they're really old too. I don't know my up speed.

    I assume you mean 1.28Mbps.
    Great speed!

I would be happy with just a 128 Kbps connection. A 1 Mbps connection would make me pee my pants!

Personally I think cable is better than ADSL, and I have ADSL. Data can usually travel faster over a cable medium than the phone line. I am with TelusPlanet and they say 1.5Mbps which is like 192 Kilobytes per second, and I've never seen over that... and meanwhile my friend is download at 3.3 Megabytes per second and an average 300-400 Kilobytes per second.

    I have cable... 3.0Mbps/128Kbps - it's $40/month used to be $35.

I've heard that they are also gonna offer a lesser verion just under 1Mbps/128K for $25/month.
