    no matter what

    No matter what Powell keeps saying bout belgium and france (germany) i love my government. I think its the first time a country decides to go into the will of the US. Our government is actually listening to the inhabitants of the country. just love it

    I'm not sure about my government. They sent patriots to Turkey to "defend" Turkey against attacks from Iraq. In my opinion my government then says: There will be a war and we are going to help to defend Turkey. But, they also say: We will currently not support a war. Turkey is a NATO-member, so we should defend it, but it is currently not under attack, so there is no need to defend it. I like the way the government of Belgium acts, they are clear, the Dutch government isn't clear at all. I also wonder what Bush will do now the Russians have said they support the proposal from Belgium, Germany and France.

    my government (belgium) said this afternoon on the radio:
    we wont support a war against iraq nor sending troops to Turkey
    because more then 75% of the people living in belgium said that a war isnt necessary. And it seems that Belgium will keep up with this policy as long as they can.
    I say as long as they can because Powell said on the American television that its "unthinkable" and "not-possible" for a country like belgium who is part of the EU and NATO to stay out of this buzziness. America s really trying to get us to their side....(wich ,hopefully, wont work as soon as they had planned it)
    ::edit::
    @shiro
    germany is also sending Patriot missiles or whatever to turkey(this way they would not be sending german troops over there). But the german government says that they wont support the war.
    Go figure!!

    That is clear language. In the Netherlands also most people are against a war, the latest poll showed 86% being against a war, but I wonder if our government will listen. I think the Belgium government should come to the Netherlands to teach our government some lessons in communication.

    well now i totally agree with our government but lots of time im thinking: why do we need all these ppl, they do scratch.
    Right now our government is being an exemple to the rest of the world hoping other countries will follow and not participate on the war.... And the way america is pushing us into this wa is incredible.
    Last night Belgium, france and germany had to sign something that said that they had 2 days to come to an agreement and decide what they are going to do.
    Germany already kinda "capitulated" to the US regime (harsh words) .I'm hopefully waiting till tomorow to see what our government is going to say to the US....

    Belgium, Germany and France have support of Russia. Yesterday I read that a Swiss canton is offering political asylom to Saddam Hussein. A Swiss writer wrote: "If I can save the lives of half a million people by giving the devil political asylum, I will do that." And so did the Swiss canton.

    ill think belgiums are much more aware of the lurking danger thats waiting around the corner...
    Head of NATO (head quarters)are situated in Brussels. Being the capital of Belgium.
    Brussels is not that far away from us and if anyone would send a nuke to Europe i think the first target would be Brussels this way the whole country would be eradicated.....along with countries such as france parts of germany and the netherlands

    NUKES bah look what america did with Cuba
    they send in the CIA then they see that that plan failed and then they start talking with each other.
    Americas first language seems to be violence (was wondering where eminem gets his inspiration).
    afterward US signed the ABM thing (anti-ballistic-missile thing)
    wich in fact is merely a paper for the US
    Hell there are about 10 Nuclear Missiles in Belgium. They are what they say on "US territory" thus the US can place NUKES there. I'm living 50 miles from a nuclear depot thanx to america...

    Now perhaps some americans will see why lots of people see America in a strange way and why we all dont give a **** about the US....

    Relax GanglyLamb. I understand your frustration, at our city we currently still have a NATO weapon-depot. I think there are no nuclear weapons there, but it is a target for terrorists and it is one of the things the government has said it will have lots of security here to protect it.

    Don't generalize. There are lots of Americans against a war and also there are lot of non-Americans pro-America.

    As far as I recall from the first Gulf War, Patriots are those anti-missile missiles. The ones used to knock Scuds out the sky with varying degrees of success. I wouldn't say that sending these missiles to an allied country is really supporting the war. Just helping them to protect themselves against potential Scud attacks in the event of war.

    They don't tell the public here that nuke powered or carring US sub's are in our base here (I do some work for our sub program so I see them in the pens).

    Hard to miss the huge ships in the harbour (or the drunk sailors in town) but can't tell if they have nukes.

    I have heard Germany and France want to triple the number of UNSCOM inspectors and increase the no fly zones to cover all of Iraq.

    Here in Australia the opposition is being 'hassled' by the US embassy for comments made by its members in our parlement (the US does not like our politicians exercising the right to free speech in our own country if the topic is anti US). I asume this is because the US is used to dealing with our Prime Minister (who has already commited our troops to the war, without the ability to withdraw them if he wanted to).

    Russia may use its veto to stop any UN resolution authorising war (as the US did over Nicaraguar).
