    Sleep is overrated...

    Well... it's 4:32 AM, I've got a class in a few hours, and I've been up all night. My sleep : awake ratio is getting very close to 0.

    But you know what? I just don't care anymore.

    Sleep is a horrible, horrible waste of time. You can get so much done in a day without sleep. A lot of people make bold claims that you code poorly when you're tired, but I find I get more done if I keep programming through the night than if I were to stop and pick up where I left off the next morning. Sleep is an unecissary evil. I've said it before and I'll say it again, someone has to invent one of those Chrono Trigger sleep machines...

    I dunno what I'm saying anymore. I am so tired right now. I would have like to have gotten at least little bit of sleep tonight (or last night, whatever), but I know that if I go to sleep now there is absolutely no way I'll get up for class.

    Sleep is evil. It comes at the worst time. I, for one, am not gonna take it anymore!

    "What can you do to stop this evil sleep daemon which takes pleasure in torturing your unconscious mind during the night, Poly!?"

    You know, I had an answer to that question at the start of this post... but I've forgotten it completely. Maybe sleep isn't such a bad idea... for now

    You're completly right!!!

    Maybe drinking coffe, but it doesn't help, if you're very tired.....

    I'm still tired, cause I went at 2:30 to bed and the last days at 5 and 4, so I'm completly tired, like you.

    Exactly, it's waste of time, and 1/3 of the life, people spend it sleeping. But one thing, sleeping is healthly, and it's extremely necessary, try staying 3 days without sleeping, you'll see even if you dont want to sleep, your brain will do it alone..

    granted, I agree with you all saying sleep is a waste of time because I'd love to stay up all nite and just do other stuff... but I know a guy who literally used to do that... he didn't get more than 2-3 hours of sleep per day and did nothing but program and read books... and right now he's a really smart guy and does contract code jobs... but he also has health problems because of what he did to his body and he has doctor's orders to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep... it's just not healthy.

    Even if it might be a waste of time, your body absolutely requires
    it, you can't stay awake longer then 48 hours. Even if you
    could, you sense a big need for silence (at least that's what i got
    staying awake 36 hours).

    Big need for silence The longest I've stayed awake is probably around 18 hours
    I am against the teaching of evolution in schools. I am also against widespread
    literacy and the refrigeration of food.

    From the amazon page for that book:
    Customers who wear clothes also shop for:
    Clean Underwear from Amazon's Target Store
    That's nice to know.

    a lot of people read that, on average, you need 8 hours of sleep every night, but they don't realize that it says on average. I've found that I only need about 4 hours of sleep every night. Of course, my parents are stubborn, and they make me "go to bed" at like 10:00 every night. My solution: put a sheet under the crack of my door so light won't shine through, turn on the light, and start playing my PS2. They both work 3rd shift, so nights that they aren't off I just stay up until like 2:00 AM. Most good movies start at midnight (not to mention pr0n). I usually just code though.

    I heard about a DJ that went almost a week on the air without getting any sleep and basically went insane thereafter. I hate to say it but I get almost all of my good work done in the hours I should be sleeping, but I DO get sleep, just during the day if possible (yes i'm basically noctournal).

    to Polymorphic: sleep for christ's (and your) sake.

    Well, I agree with that you can get much more done without sleeping. Although, I love dreaming, and I don't see that as a waste of time. So, Polymorphic OOP, do you remember having any dreams even though you've slept only a few hours?

    I don't have that problem, but I do get more errors because I forget which language I'm using when I'm really tired and write stuff like this.
    Code:
    #!usr/bin/perl -w
    use strict;
    #include <iostream>

    using namespace std;

    sub main(int argc, char *argv[]) {
      cout<<"Enter your name: ";
      my $name = <>;

      print STDOUT $name, "\n";

      return 0;
    }
    I go to sleep right about that time.
