About 90% of the movies made are so unrealistic that it's not even funny.

    Star Wars is great.

Dude Where's My Car was a funny as crap movie if you like the stupid humor stuff (which I do )

My vote for worst movie would be a movie called 'Bats'. I lost a few IQ points after watching about half of it.

With the frequency that thee wife can watch the following, I'd have to say:

    Homicidal: Dirty Dancing, Hairspray

    Suicidal: The sound of Music
Man's mind once streched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions
    - Oliver Wendell Holmes

In other words, if you teach your cat to bark (output) and eat dog food (input) that doesn't make him a dog. It would have to chase cars, chew bones, and have puppies before I'd call it Rover ;-)

Recent movies I've seen that I hated the hell out of:

    Battlefield Earth
    From Hell
    Gosford Park
    Jason X

And PS, i loved Starship Troopers as well! As long as you go in knowing that it will be cheesy and completely different from the book I think its a fun movie.

    >>Such as Black Hawk Down, etc.<<

With you on the American movie's distorted view of war, but I thought that Black Hawk Down was one of the better representations and thoroughly enjoyed it. Behind Enemy Lines however, what a pile of garbage, especially the ending!!

    Hated movies:

Bad Boys (With a Passion!!! Two guys bicker all through a film, drove me nuts!!)
What Women Want (Getting in touch with his feminine side...please!!)
Black ?something? (Vin Diesel rubbish that I turned off after 1/2 hour)
    Mad Max films
    Titanic
    Reign of Fire
    Spiderman

Films I thought I would hate and then really enjoyed:
Ten things I hate about you
    Captain Correli's Mandolin
    Meet Joe Black
    Billy Elliot

You're right, I forgot about Reign of Fire which I watched last week, what a piece of crap that was!

And you didn't like Pitch Black?? I loved that movie! Favorite SciFi/Horror movie behind Aliens!

I still don't get how that's a war movie. It's an action movie with a war backdrop. The Sound of Music happens during a war - does that make it a war movie, too?

interesting. I work 8:30-5:30 5 days a week, commuting takes an hour or so of my day away from me. I think that's enough real world for me. If I want reality I can walk outside. A movie is an escape from reality.

I second "the glass house". No story, no shock, no suspense, terrible.

Black Hawk Down glorifies the American soldiers, while the Somalis is pictured as war-loving, incompetent and stupid people, living in herds countering bullets by throwing rocks.

Black Hawk Down is not abysmally bad as a movie (2/5) but what really scares me is people (including Scott himself) saying that BHD is very realistic, or even documentary.

Btw, here are many bad movies:

    Second that, great stuff.

    Worst movie ever ?

    Fire on the Amazon.

I'm a big Sandra Bullock Fan and this was the only one I did not know. I should have left it at that. Sandra has a nude scene there. Looks great, but still I wish I never heard of it. It's so stereotypical, it's absurd. I can't even begin to describe how bad it is.

She was so Blonde, she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice can because it said "Concentrate."

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.

    SOLD!

I've never heard anything else about it - you have proof that's not the way things actually happened?

Ah yeah, talking about different things. I wasn't claiming that BHD was true to life cos frankly I haven't a clue what really happened out there. I just think it paints quite a good picture of war itself, being very nasty regardless of whose side you are on.

True, realism is a complex term; I do not doubt that the guns, choppers and environment is realistic, for example.
But the quotes and behaviour of the americans contra the somalis is another matter:

"We don't want your american democracy, we like war down here" (paraphrased)

I have written an analysis of this subject for Växjö University, so I'm not completly writing of the top of my head, but I admit that it is a very complex question. Unfortunaly it's written in Swedish.

But realistic -- no. Just look at the the two clowns in the middle of the movie (the hearing impaired and the other). WTF is that?

And why do the americans shoot so much better than the somalis all the time?

Have you seen The birth of a nation? The crashed helicopter scene reminds much of the mulatto's men storming the small cottage. Enough said.

I've seen too many of those... I Accuse My Parents, Manos, etc... Thank you, Mystery Science Theater!

I think some of the things added to BHD were added solely for entertainment (like the deaf guy... I agree with you there - wtf?). When you look at the numbers, though - how many dead on both sides? Like less than 20 Americans and about 1000 Somalis? It's pretty clear to me who shot better - the guys in the move are Delta Force and Army Rangers - that's the best of the best, there. They sure better shoot better than some somali civilian or militia member.

    > The crashed helicopter scene

But that's what happened. IIRC, they actually did parade the guy's stripped body through the streets.
