Red face I hate Viruses........... :o

Few days ago I was worried what happened to my explorer..My Explorer was sick .. in each folder explorer creates two files.. and takes too much time to open the folder..

I installed the Norton AV and updated the definations files.. & when I Scanned my drives........All my dowloaded notes.. relating to C and CPP ( *.htm / *.html) were infected by the HTML.Redlof.A virus... and NAV couldnt clean those files.. and Quartined all my notes..

when I tried to remove these registery values of HTML.Redlof.A virus.. I dont know what I have done.. that rundll32.exe stopped responding .. and when I tried to run System File Checker to re-extract the file.. the System File Checker was also.. dead... so problems unitedly open a war against me.. Just because of a Virus...eeeh

and what is happening with my mail box.. mails with attachments of anyname.scr .. and some description to download.. I scanned using the hotmail scanning option.. Result was "No Virus Found." and when I download the file.. and tried to run the screen saver ,, the Anti Virus reported w32@yahaa.. worm...

I have lost all my downloaded tutorials and notes of C and C++

    Great Losss

this is Irritating.. to me......... I hate viruses...

    ALL IS NOT LOST!

There are many things you can do in this situation. At this point, you aren't going to recover any programs or your windows. So, get a spare hard drive, nothing big, if you have a spare around that's even better. Make the infected drive the slave, install an OS and norton with updated scan files on the new drive. Boot from that drive. Pull off your notes etc. Even if they're quarantined at least you'll be able to move them to a working drive and fix them later. If all goes well you can move on to disinfecting the entire slave drive from your new master. There are all sorts of ways to approach this, but the above is the general approach.
    PHP and XML

I had problem with my .exe files I have mentioned in my post..

when I tried to remove these registery values of HTML.Redlof.A virus.. I dont know what I have done.. that rundll32.exe stopped responding .. and when I tried to run System File Checker to re-extract the file.. the System File Checker was also.. dead...
So I had restored my registery backup ...and Installations of some programs were disturbed when I restarted the system

now all my drives are virus free.. there arent any .exe files infected with virus..I have used latest updated virus definations for scanning..but NAV fails to clean files of *.htm / *.html extensions infected by HTML.Redlof.A ..

Have you tried just opening your HTML files in Notepad, and copying out the information you need?

There is just one foolproof protection from most viruses: Don't run executable files. No matter what sender. If it was an attachment, it is potentially harmful. You might be missing out on some frogs in the mixer animations, but otherwise I see no useful application of sending executables or script files. And not clicking on this stuff the next time might spare you a lot of work

She was so Blonde, she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice can because it said "Concentrate."

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.
