Even w/ your amended value for it, it's interesting to see that there are more Fortran programmers than C#, here... Is C, perhaps, closer to Fortran (having never used Fortran)?

A friend of mine uses Fortran a lot, he uses it for parallel programming, he makes simulations. I haven't understand yet why, but it seems that Fortran is a good choice for parallel computing systems.

I think C is closer than Fortran than C#. I thought Pascal was even closer to Fortran than C, but I could be wrong since I'm told Fortran has changed a lot during the many years it is used.

I agree, it is very dangerous, but as I said , If you know how to drive it, it is very safe,

Any language, as any car are dangerous, but it depends on the driver. Have you try the shavy TAHOE 2003, it is fun. strong motor, as great as C++

    >>> I think C is closer than Fortran than C#. I thought Pascal was even closer to Fortran than C,

I think it is certainly true that early Fortrans, Fortran-66, were/are not unlike C, (although of course, the Fortran was around a lot earlier so it is more correct to say that C is Fortran like), and Pascal is Fortran-77 like, but the Fortran-9x standards are a good bit different.

Many scientists use Fortran as the language of choice because it is so good at mathematics, it was, after all, designed to be - FORmula TRANslator.

I used Fortran daily until about '96.
