    Rant Rant Rant!!

Ok, time for a face_master brand, home-grown, rant.

Hypocrites. They are hated by most. Its really annoying when somebody like your parents displays hypocicity. For example, tonight my mum comes into my room (whats she doin there anyway??) and complains about my music...as usual. Ok, then later she has some weird opera crap singing playing in the lounge room up full loud so I cant watch TV down there or anything, and she's speaking to my sister who is always teaming up on me, at the same time. I complained just then while getting a cup of coffee *sips coffee* and she plain out ignored me so I avoided an argument and just went back upstairs.

    I have some serious issues...

If you want to dual-boot then you need to install Linux after Windows.

That was a good ran face_master. Its funny how your rant got turned into a thread about a dual boot system.

About the music. I think you should play you mum's music, or sister's music, and see if she complains about it. It would be funny to see if you are playing your sister's music and she complains about it, but has never complained to your sister about it.

I did a dual boot system. Its not difficult at all. Practically boot with a linux disk, and just follow the steps. I would backup just in case. Never know what can happen.

So what type of music do you listen to? I'll wait for the answer before I pick sides

Load Windows XP onto the machine, leaving a partition for Linux.
Load Linux onto the partition that you created.
Make the Linux root partition the active one.
Is it ok if this partition is created after xp is installed?

And is it possible to install linux on a NTFS partition?

    And what is the 'swap'?

Yeah, you need to install XP first and then Linux.

It's not possible to install Linux on NTFS, use ext2 or ext3 filesystem to start off.

Swap is equivalent to Window's virtual memory.

I've been with 2 g/f's before who were like that. To make a long story short, there were many many other differences. I left.

Avoiding arguments is good..and sometimes far more effective than arguing with someone who can't accept the phrase, "You're not all right. You're all wrong."
The world is waiting. I must leave you now.
