    Face transplants

    http://www.washtimes.com/business/20021205-25235698.htm

Do you guys think this is a good idea? I had no idea they were capable of doing something like this already. I think its a great idea for people with deformities but I shudder to think when this will be used as a normal plastic surgery option...

I agree with you that normal plastic surgery is much better, and I don't think that they have that technuiqe already( face trans... ), I don't think it should be legal, because it will cause many problems.

    Note:
That remindes me with "Face Off"

It's sick. Why would I have another persons face? I really don't like plastic surgery in general. Be happy with you have. The end!

LOL, I was wondering how long before we got a MJ joke! Less than two hours, not bad!

I agree that it is sick (unless you do it for medical reasons), I'm just scared for how long something like this will continue to be considered sick. Wasn't too long ago that most plastic surgery was considered wrong, but now almost all of it is mainstream.

i didn't read far past "The idea of transplanting an entire face from a dead person to a living one sounds bizarre, but it may happen within a year. ". i think it's sick.. i never liked the idea of plastic surgery, and this is just a bit too far.. and where are they getting the faces to use, dare i ask?? i didn't read the whole thing, so if it's answered in there, just ignore me

I wonder what any of you would think if you had a gross facial injury/malformation...

I agree, it sounds kind of weird, but so did a lot of things before the stigma was broken, (heart transplants etc.).

I would have no problems with that. I'm just worried how long before people who are just bored with their faces will be able to do this!

Oh, and to answer Madhatter, I think it said that organ donors would be the ones who supply the faces at the time of their deaths.

this sounds like a fairly okay practice to me. it could be set up like an organ donor thing. the only thing is i would want it to be restricted to people with severe face injuries, not just people who want to do it for the fun? of it.

I think that it should only be an option for people with deformities or handicaps...If it were a regular option...well that would be just scary.
