    Don't you need the .NET framework to run anything created with it?

    I have Visual Studio.NET which includes both C++ & Visual Basic(if not others)but, I think you need the framework to use executables made.

    Bah, I'm confused now...

    In a recent thread of mine, I found this reply from someone:
    > Of the Visual Studio .NET languages, only Visual C++ .NET can compile unmanaged code (standard i386 Win32 PE executables).

    A quote from your link
    > Managed Extensions for C++
    > Managed Extensions for C++ are a set of language extensions that enable C++ developers to write applications for the .NET Framework.
    They go on to talk about managed code.

    That unmanaged/managed code bit gets my head a spinning. They use the word too much.

    Unmanaged DOES NOT need the .NET framework.

    Does anybody know if this is true?

    Does anybody know of a manual or something to get for when I buy this? Or does it come with complete documentation of how to use .NET?

    I'm guessing it comes with documentation, if not, MSDN online will probably have anything you'd have questions about.

    Also, keep in mind that you need XP

    I wonder what happened to all the good deals there used to be...?

    I bought VC++ 6.0 for $100 and it came with Visual J++ attached to it, with the MSDN library included in both packages.

    At the same time I bought a $40 "Starter Game Programming" kit and it came with a 3D engine (Genesis 3D) and a paperback book - but it also came with the Introductory version of VC++ 6.0 and 4 e-books on how to program with VC++ 6.

    I guess those were the days in 1999, GOOD TIMES....................

    XP Professional, I think. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with the home edition.
