Why do you think C# isn't popular?

Why do you think C# isn't popular? Is it because it's still new? Or because it's not good enough?
And have you learned C# or not?And are you plannig to?

I think it's becuase it's still new, I've bought the SAMS teach yourself C# in 21 days, but I didn't finish it because I didn't have time, but I'm interested in it.

I've never learned C#, and am not planning to any time soon. But maybe I should. I don't really know what it has to offer over c++. Also I think that it may be that C# just hasn't caught on yet.

is it supposed to be like a replacement for c++? because the creators of c++ said it was meant to replace c? so is this a replacement of a replacement?

I think that C# is supposed to be a replacement for C++, but I'm not positive. All of the things that I have come across lead me to think this way.

AFAIK, C# is Microsoft's response to Sun's Java.

C#'s too new to be in wide use already. It's not a replacement for C or C++ - it's meant to be an alternative to Java

I looked at some code, it is so identical to java. What I think Microsoft intended was for those programmers who had worked with java to start using C#, since the transition is so easy. I wanted to look at it, I may get around to it, well see.

I'm currently being taught Java in my grade 12 programming course, but, from what I've heard, most univerisities up here are switching to teaching C# in their computers courses.

If C# is a replacment for Java what's the difference between the two? Also, which one is better. Personally I haven't used either of them. I stick to good old C++.

I don't kow about everyone else, but I like C#. The only problem with it is that I don't want to have to distribute the .NET framework along with all of my programs...not to mention it's slow upon its FIRST run. I dunno, I just can't get into the whole .NET thing until it becomes wide-spread.

Isn't MS putting .NET on all of its post-XP OSes? That'd be neat...then I'd start using C#.

i looked into c# before i decided to learn c++. It was too stripped down for my liking, it's like they took C and cut the balls out from under it.

I agree with all who said that C# was meant to be a replacment of Java, because it's very similar to it.

We have had this arguement before on previous threads. I believe look under the C# board. Also,
C#'s too new to be in wide use already. It's not a replacement for C or C++ - it's meant to be an alternative to Java
    I agree with this

This is true. I have seen in the professional literature on more universities looking at switching to C#.

What makes you think C# isn't popular ? There is a ton of good C# sites out there. Go out and learn.

C# is a RAD OOP language. Very nice, very thought through, lacking generics/templates but everything else is just great. DX9 will support the .NET Framework as it seems ;-)
