    computer microphone?

I'm going to be recording some instrumental music played by band students (wind instruments so no spdif in on this one ). My microphone is decent, but is too sensitive to the volume and pitch (even when optimized by software). Does anyone know of some good 'more professional' computer microphones out there? thanks.

Computer mics aren't good for audio recording. To get some good quality recording you'll want a condenser mic or a less expensive dynamic mic like the Sure SM58 or something. A quality mic preamp will help a ton along with a good audio interface. You can pick up a cheap audio interface for about $100 or so now days. Also try to stick with balanced inputs (XLR connections generally).

Agree totally. Also agree that Shure is the product of choice - I've used Shure mikes for 25 years without complaint.

thanks for the input everyone, i'll probably upgrade to one of those for personal use. But i've decided that I can use the sound system in the auditorium to input to my computer. It will work MUCH BETTER. thanks again.
