    Favorite chess opening style/strategy

    ^?

My favorite has to be variations of different strategies from the kings pawn opening. It opens your most powerful pieces right off the bat, while allowing you to create "pawn walls" (diagonal arrangements that protect eachother). It also leaves room for the knights to get into position to control the center of the board.

    I like to
    1) Sit down looking all smart
    2) wait for the other person to move
    3) realize I don't know how to play chess
    4) panic
    5) punch the other player in the teeth and knock over her king

if you were staring at my ass and trying to think of icecream under the flesh, that would be pretty funny

Kings Gambit vs e5, the main line vs anything else black plays (especially love playing against the sicilian), then the Najdorf and Dutch as black.

know of any good sites to study these moves? ie: which do you use?

I'm pretty good, but as far as opening strategy goes i have no clue what's good against what, i might as well be playing blind. I just sort of flow with whatever and either stop people or get whipped. NO happy medium here.

To be honest, I couldn't tell you of any sites to study openings. Most of what I know comes from my large collection of chess books or just flat out playing the openings hundreds of times on the internet or at over the board tourneys.

Oh, and www.uschess.org is the USCF site, they have lots of links. You could probably find lots of info there.

Used to use Colle System as white, moving over to Ruy Lopez now, play the French as black but i'm looking into the sicillian.

    Good site is: http://www.ex.ac.uk/~dregis/DR/coaching.html

thanks pj and clyde for the links

    >>not lose

best strategy yet, though not always completely successful. However there is always the "hey what's that!" strategy in which you nonchalantly flip the board while the other person turns his/her head. If all else fails beat them to death with their rooke.

Bah, the french is the only opening I hate to play against - mostly because I learned to use the advanced version against it, which is crap, but haven't taken the time to learn another way to play versus it.
