I installed Riven onto my 1.4Ghz AMD and Win2k. The game itself didn't work, it was meant for Win95, but I was able to uninstall it. Anyway the video worked. Well the accelerator kind of mess up the video slightly, but it worked good enough. It was a 10 minute documentary on the making of the game.

There were originally 12 programmers and they started out in a garage. Looked really cramped. Eventually they were abe to put up their own building. Acutally their building looked cool. Something out of a fantasy novel.

They eventually had something like 20+ programmers working on the game, also a lot of designers, artists, engineers, etc. They spent 4 years on the game.

I didn't get to play the game. It was completed in 1997! Looked very cool. Good graphics in the video. I can just imagine what games look like now. I plan on getting X-Box before Christmas. Watched a few videos at www.xbox.com

Anyway, if someone was going to put together a team to make a game for any of these systems than they are looking at several years work for at least 12 - 15 people. I imagine that it would be difficult to get on one of these teams. If I ever planned to be involved in one of these projects it would take about a decade or more to come up with the 2-3 million to make this possible. It may be something to ultimately look forward too but not for a hell of a long time. These games are very complex. Looked like a lot of fun though. They designed artwork, clay models of the gameworld, thousands of man hours.
