car accident - ever been involved?

I was driving through a crossing, traffic jam flashing yellow, suddenly a big hit, car turn around 180 degrees, and I was wondering what happened...T-boned by a VW Passat!

No injuries, but my car has now...well, new design

    That happened yesterday, 03-Nov-2002.

Ive been in a few, havent totaled my car and none were my fault But actually I was in one this morning on my way to classes. A friend was giving me a ride b/c were in a different class together and had to go to a group meeting for a project after we got out of classes today so we rode together. About 2 miles from school we were going straight through a light when some stupid guy* thought he could turn left fast and hit my friends car right in the drivers side door. Pretty crappy way to start the day, especially since my friend just bought the car a few weeks ago We ended up missing class because it took the damn police for ever to show up, almost an hour wait, then it took them forever to write up a ticket for the other guy and get his car towed, luckily my friends car is still driveable just kina ugly now

Oh I had a fun one. I was leaving the doctor's office and I turned onto this really annoying street. It's busy, with traffic two ways, and parked on either sidfe. But for what it is it's pretty narrow, with a lot of side streets that it's hard to see out of.

Well I turned onto this street, in front of me was a white truck, and a white SUV, behind me another white SUV, I was in a small red civic. Well one block down I saw a guy at a stop sign waiting, at a complete stop, to cross the street. I saw in his face that he might go, but i said to myself...naaa I'm here, he must see me, I won't honk, I'd just be benig an jerk.

Well I wish I was a jerk. He saw the break in the white and decided to go. Well I knew I was going to hit him. No stopping it, so I slammed the break, relaxed my arms and said oh well....BOOM.

My grill became intimate with his side panels. Caused around $5,000 of damage to the car I had bought only a few months before for $11,000. He was real nice about it, until i was summoned to court to appeal his ticket and he didn't show...grumbl grumble.

I was on the interstate(freeway) by myself behind a semi where there was an accident scene. The semi-started to accelerate, because he could go, so I started doing the same. Then, I got stupid. It was snowing out terribly this night around 9 or 10 at night, and this long bridge we were on happened to have a complete sheet of glare ice all the way accross it. I tested the gas a little bit, started fishtailing, and did 2 donoughts into the center devider of the interstate sliding down the bank backwards at a whole 25mph. Cop came, got a to truck, no injuries to me, I was the only driver, and my car was fine. The really freaky part about it all is the fact that I was doing 75mph just a little ways before that pocketed to the left of one semi and behind another (kind of a "shield").

My g/f and I were going to go to her brother's that same winter. She was driving, and was doing 55 - 60mph. The snow wasn't all that bad really, you could see fine. Daytime too. We came around a 30mph corner at about 50-55mph, hit a patch of ice, and lost control. This was a sharp corner by the way. Anyhow, we went sliding into the guard rail in the opposing lane, smacking upside it really hard with the side of the car, just barely hitting the guard rail(a foot or two sooner and we would've went sliding off a 25-30foot bank drop off). After we hit the guard rail, we went sliding back into our lane, and ditched the car at 45mph or so probably. Straight into the ditch dead stop.

The car was undrivable. Broken left front tire rod, completely flattened right front tire. Big paint streak on the guard rail and a crater in the snow of the ditch. Atleast I know what it's like to walk away from a 50mph sudden stop. *phew*

Apparently her dad has it running decent now. New tires, new door, new complete left side - new everything. 2 colors too!

I hit a curb going about 15mph. Totalled the car... I guess I bent
the frame or something. Stupid curbs. Is an actual purpose for
    them?

    This was August 7th.

    @ ethic.

If you dont go up the curb with both wheels at the same tme that tends to happen.
I guess curbs are there to prevent us from running over pedestrians.

Ive been in one accident. We stopped at a red light, were about to turn right, when the moron behind us was zipping down the street and didnt see the red light (there was a green light for the people making left hand turns). He hit the back of our car, didnt do any damage to me or the car, but he needed to replace a head light.

    OK, here's mine:

    - Been a passenger in a car that rolled, 'cos the driver was going too fast round a dark country lane
    - been a passenger in a car that got hit head on by another car that was being driven on the wrong side of the road by an old lady
    - Been a passenger in a car that went head first in a parked car on a garage forecourt.
    - Driven my own car into the curb twice and destroyed the axel both times
    - Drove my car into the back of someone elses
    - Drove my car into the side of someone elses
    - Fell off my motor bikes loads of times (I don't have m-bikes anymore )

... is there a pattern in there somewhere? Oh well, life is fun

You see! Curbs are completely stupid! I don't see how they'd
protect a pedestrian. The curb didn't stop me from going onto
the grass, all it did was total my car. If a pedestrian was there,
    I would have hit them.

If there was no curb, my car would probably be okay...

Sure is, beating a little escort at 90mph for 10 straight miles, and doing 135 in a friend's souped up vehicle..hu Hammer?

Heh, I passed someone at 85 mph on a 55mph highway, and kept acclerating to 95 and kept it there for a good distance. Person I passed was probably all, "WHAT THE?".

    Not and accident, but..
I came around a corner on the way to school(windy farm road) doing 65mph when I saw a van parked at the end of a driveway waiting to come out. He saw me, then, decided to go!!! I thought to myself, oh no, it's too late. So I slammed on my brakes, and squealed down to 10 - 15mph before he got out of the way.

    - edit -
I've had _alot_ of close calls, but, never got into an "accident" myself while driving. I slid off the road slower than you can run, but, I don't count that. Coasting down a hill backwards would be the same. I just do alot of driving, so, maybe experience or something, shrug. 45minutes to school and back everyday @ 70mph sustained. 425-450 mile round trip on the weekends pretty often @ 75mph sustained(sometimes 80, with peaks of 95/95 - freeway). All weather and climates..maybe I'm just not stupid. i-dunno..

I remember last year me and two of my friends got into a wreck (10mph one) in a parking lot in between semester finals. Needless to say, I ended up repeating a semester.

It was in the dead of winter too. I think I managed to get a bad cold because of that...

That just wasn't a good day...

    For the full info.

Budapest is a nightmare regarding traffic: traffic jams, rush, morons type daddy_bought_me_a_mercedes, girls in mini-skirts on the sideway distracting your attention etc.

    What's the situation overthere, Shadow?

I don't know how many people here know what "ground effects" are, but i had them on my Mazda RX-7 when i hit a curb(trends??), and ripped em off the front and driver side of the car.

    We get those too!
Along with vehicles pulling out in front of you when you're going 65+ mph....and they decide to pull out when you're less than a city block away. End result: slamming your breaks while being able to see their nose hairs.
(I've done that around 4 times now)

    That, and deer.
The state in live in, in the US has a very bad deer problem. They're all over the place, especially where I live. Doing 110+ at night time, etc. isn't the smartest idea.
