woah... cyber-sex will have new meaning. This is strange. I do like the idea of hitting someone over the internet though

    Whoa whoa that's awesome.

Hey if you ever can't be with your gf in person then you might as well try to "be with her" over the net.

    First it's cloning.
    Next, it's teleporting.
    Then, my gosh, it's..simulated reality.
It's going to be a holodeck(right term?) from star trek!

That's cool though. It's sort of funny too. My friend told me one time, "You see, people see these things in science fiction movies, and, sooner or later, it comes true. Somebody, _finds a way_ to do it." It's a great thing.
The world is waiting. I must leave you now.

Now all you mods can hit someone for breaking the rules:
    - *SMACK*
    - Hey what was that for?
    - Two words: code tags.

This is interesting but it'll open many new doors to child molesters
    Try not.
    Do or do not.

Its cool, but it will certainly bring up a lot of issues. I guess both have to have the equipment, and allow it to happen, so people cant randomly hit you or something. That would be weird.

    lmao cshot....

I view this as negative, i can see the benifits, but theres so much possible negative over it. I mean, next we'll have cyber-harrassment in the form of violence.

Joking aside, I don't think we could lose the sex theme. Although there may well be countless applications for this, it's very obvious that porn is going to be the killer app.

I don't see this as a new invention. I'm sure the idea and the concepts behind its implementation has been around for decades. However, it's only recently that the data networks needed to transfer sufficient information in real-time have become a reality.

I didn't quite get that. What was the actual handshake? Did you wear special gloves, and there is a mechanic arm on the "other side" or what? Or did you send impulses to your brain simulating a handshake? Or is there some actual teleporting involved

That was just marketroid press release ad-speak, or in English - no. Remember that Simpson's episode where Marge becomes an estate agent*, well it's like that. There's the truuuuuth , and there's the truth !

Doesn't look much does it? I am also sceptical of the claims that they have re-created the tactile feel of objects. Is this what they have done or would like to do?

    I've become such a cynic!

To my understanding its something they would like to do.
