    Interesting English assignment!

Well guys, i really must share this one with you. Today in english we were assigned a freewrite paper, and heres the write up:

"Pick a topic that is appropriate and research it. From a first person prespective explain why you(they) did certain things, or why the chosen situation developed in the way that it did....."

Thats part of it, so i got to thinking, as i am usually pretty creative, and heres what i have chosen:

The journal of a serial sniper. I am going to study the case to as much as we know, study state of mind, possible issues, etc, and write a jouranl accounting for every day from the day before the first sniper attack, to the night of his arrest(written in his cell).

I think such a topic if done right could score me a very good grade, and i figured you might be interested in contributing ideas, angles, or just following along as i do this.

I don't know that much is known yet about their state of minds, what they were thinking, etc. And it might strike some people, i.e. your teacher, as in poor taste at the present time.
Could be good if you can pull it off.

Thats the great challenge of it, to use creativity to get in their minds. I have an uncanny ability to be able to take the most abstract thing and make it really, really interesting in my writing. I don't know why/how i got the talent but hey, it gets me A's.

For my college English class I have to write an 11(minimum) page essay on business ethics in post-communist countries. I got to choose the topic. It should be fun...

I always try to hit the sensitive spot with my teacher. As early as I can in the class, I suggest an activity where we do a 5 minute speech on our pet-peeves, find out what they don't like, and then for the rest of my assignment, pound those things. My English teacher right now hates all the people who think America is always wrong*, and so all my speeches focus on how cool America is. Seems to be working - My grade is over 100% right now, and the next grade down is an F.

    * And I don't mean to start another rash of *America Sucks* posting, but I do find it wierd that 67% of Canadians place all of the blame for September 11 on America, and that most of the people burning flags in the streets of Persia admit to taking every chance they can to come learn in America.

She informed us we need at least one book reference, so i can't do the sniper. However, i decided to do a journal before and during the world trade disaster from the view of someone who was plauged by strange nightmares, then has it come true while hes on the first plane to hit. Heres the rough copy of the first entry:

    September 10, 2001

Today I woke in a cold, tensing sweat. My blankets were disheveled and spread throughout my room. The pain and horror from the dream I had just awoken from hung over me like a black blindfold draped over the light from the sun. Never in my wildest of imagination would I have been able to come up with the tale that had played before my very eyes only moments ago.
The screams, the cries, the chills, they all seemed so real, so oblivious to the reality they were not a part of. All I could think of was the cries as the plane headed for its new destination, the World Trade Center. It would be impossible to tell you which of the two towers we struck, as the fear blinded me to detail like love is blind to hate.
I heard the roar of engines, the screams of the terrorist; though I could not understand they’re words. Words of rage, they must have been, for I have never seen anyone with such an evil look in they’re eye. They spoke in a language I have never heard of, mumbling to one another and screaming at us.
With little regard for human life they guided our plane, at the hands of our own pilots, into the fury and flame of eternal hell, in the shape of a man made building, one of both business and economy.
I can remember falling before we struck, for when I stood to flee, where to I have no idea, my legs were numb and I couldn’t sustain myself as I did at any other time. I could see the rivets on the supports of the tower, I was that close to my death, and then I awoke.

Just a dream, it was all just a dream.

    Interesting topic.

I think it would make an interesting topic since its fresh and new to the minds of us all. I dont watch, read or listen alot about news but you should have no problems researching this recent event through CNN or maybe the times on the net.

Good Luck and let me know how you did. INTERESTING!

Watch out for melodrama & hyperbole. And I could be wrong, but I don't think they made the airline pilots crash into the towers, think they killed the pilots and crashed the planes themselves.

I'll have to look into it, i was still under the impression they didn't know how it was done but i was kind of planning on working it into it that it was ours.

Not sure about the towers & the Pentagon, maybe there's no way to know for sure, but that is what happened on the Pennsylvania flight. Not a problem if you're fictionalizing it.
