Have you taken the ACT?
yeah the ACT is much harder. Just take a look at the reading section: 4 stories, 40 questions, 35 minutes. doesnt that sound fun? try the ACT
I took my psats and I think I got about a 5.
Yes that's right
a 5 out of 1600
seriously I think about a 900 which isn't good, I am going to take it over til i get 1200
what do you mean aced
did you actually get a 1600? I didn't think that ever happened
First time I took ACT, composite == 25. Second time (and last), composite == 33.
what score did you get, icarus?
[bragging]well, i got a 1430, so ha ha![/bragging]
i have yet to take the act's, though... hope i do well.
1460 here. My story is that when I took it in middle school I got a 1380, So my four years of "high school education" was worth but 90/1460 of my intelligence. Seems like a waste of time in retrospect.
The current SAT is virtually useless. It measures te likelyhood that you're a white rich male. The only other things it tests are reading comprehension, vocab, 7th grade math skills, some geometery, and how good you are at finding stupid tricks and trickery in math problems. It is useless.
The SAT has been aced before. one account I can recall was by a homeschooler (yay!).

Heh, my sister just got her SAT back.. 1520. Looks like a pretty good chance that she is a rich white male eh? . Although my parents are making decent money now (close to 100K combined) it really wasn't like that her whole upbringing (probably average household income was 55K while she was 0-13, and there was 5 kids in the house), so definetely far from rich as well.
I said the likelyhood you were a rich white male, that doesn't mean that others can't, or won't do well on it, nor doesa it mean all rich white males do the best, lol heck no. But it does mean that statistically the best thing you can do to do well on the SAT is to be born a rich white male. So all of you getting ready to take it should work on that!
I aced it. Literally. 1600. In other breaking news, I'm pretty sure my woman just dumped me. I don't believe it. The line went something like this:what score did you get, icarus?
You know I love you, icarus (name changed to protect the suicidal)...but my life is so ****ed up right now. I end up hurting everyone I'm close to. I'm not sure I can deal with a boyfriend right now. Can we just lose the physical aspect for a little bit until I straighten myself out?

Congratulations! Acing the SAT I is not something easy to do. I took the ACT last spring (without any preparation besides going to school) and scored a 29 out of a possible 36 composite. Although I haven't taken the SAT, the ACT would probably be the easier test for me because it is not half math--only a fourth. And speaking of reading tests, where do they get the ACT/standardized test short stories from? "Veggies from the Ghetto"? Do I really want to read a story about a bunch of kids growing a vegetable garden at an inner-city school and selling it at grocery stores nation wide? I guess it's all a part of preventing cultural bias, which means elementing stories from a culture I can better relate to (seriously, it's not that much more difficult to understand, so I do not see much need to complain about cultural bias at all).
Compjinx, have you heard about the person who aced both the SAT I and the ACT? I saw it in the newspaper a while ago. I think the girl was a homeschooled Asian American.
I'm a homechooler. I took it at the age of 13 and got a 1200. Funny thing was, two months before I took it, I knew NO Algebra. I had to learn as much as possible. As a result my verbal score was better. I got way over the national average.Originally posted by compjinx

-Save the whales. Collect the whole set.
Wow! sweet man. I too am a homeschooler(if you couldn't tell by the "yay!"), though the most I have ever taken was the CAT5 and terranova.
