    New Ms Programming Software!!!

    Hey,
My brother told me about this - MicroSoft is putting out some new programming software called Visual Studio. I'm told it's excellent (my other brother was one of the evaluators for the project), and I got some information about the introduction meeting they'll be having - everyone who goes gets a free, full copy, not a trial version. I'm not sure on the restrictions of who can attend, but I thought it might spark some interest. If anyone knows anything else on the subject I'd lovew to hear (and I'm sure others would too!). YOu can get some of the information at the link below:

    Enjoy!

Visual Studio is nothing new, the release of the latest version, Visual Studio .NET, was quite some time ago.

I don't know about VS .NET, but the previous versions were pretty junky, the only thing I like about VS is the debugger. Hopefully they've managed to write a good programming environment on the 7th try.

I don't agree that VC++ is not a good programming enviroment (IDE).

By environment I mean that it has annoying bugs, and doesn't support the standard adequately or is blatantly wrong. The editor is very nice, has useful features, and I've been using it happily for years. Even now I use the MS debugger when possible because Borland isn't as friendly. I suppose I should have said compiler instead of environment.

Microsoft thinks they're above ANSI-C standards

I agree this is a bad thing. And I agree that it has bugs. I like VC++7 much better than VC++6 though, a worthy purchase

I'm using Visual C++ 6.0, I like it very much it's easy to use, But I'm still a beginner! so I don't know how is it like for others.
But anyway it's not new, version 6.0 is in the visual studio 98...
and maybe there are older versions.
