Yeah…suffered all my life with headaches.

Haven’t had one for a while (touch wood). Over the last few months I have not drunk much and not ate much choccies – I think that has helped.

Strangely, I find that sleeping too much also causes headaches……don’t get much of a chance to sleep these days

    Wow, just headaches.

    My migraines:
Give me an unbearable headache. (Something seems to turn the gain up on my hearing volume)
Completely destroy my ability to focus my vision on anything without extreme effort and pain.
Make my perceived internal body temperature, ie how warm I feel rise uncontrollablly very high levels, I have no way to describe this adequately apart from I would gladly run around the arctic in the nude at this stage.
Cause me to throw up every hour for between 6 and 12 hours, this also means I can't really eat or drink, or take pain killers.
Occasionally make interesting coloured blotches pass across my vision.

They generally last no longer than twice the length of the vomiting period.

The seem to be triggered by certain combinations of any(ish) 5 of the following and can become unbearable from first signs to full blown in about half an hour.
    Chocolate,
    Coffee (Even the smell off)
    Cheese,
Certain alcohols (Lagers, red wine, some spirits and liquers)
    Stress,
"Wrong" ambient light, generally those caused by very uniform levels of white or pale cloud. It can be caused by other sources as well, I think its to do with polarisation, and perhaps to a lesser extent flicker and brightness.
"Wrong" weather, dramatic changes in pressure before after and during storms can really set my head off.

I try to avoid most of these as much as I can.

now, make sure you stop drinking coffee, Caffeine causes the realese of a VERY painfull chemical when you dont have it in you.

I used to get them when I was young (8-11). Had to cut out caffeine. They were the worst thing ever. I seldom ever get a headache nowadays. Incidently I don't have any caffeine at all now (aside from a cup of tea every now and then). I gave up coffee and Coca~Cola about 9 months ago...never felt better in my life

I have had three CT scans and an MRI. I have been tested for TMJ, vision problems, and poked and prodded a million times will no negative results.

Still, sometimes I get migraines or cluster headaches that are bad enough to start my nose to bleed.

Usually I see spots first (aura), then I lose all vision, then I need to lay down, I black out for a while, then I wake up and if I am lucky, my face isn't covered with blood.... but my head will be pounding none the less.

Tons of pain reliever (that usually gets vomited), lots of ice packs on my head, and about a day later (if I am lucky), I will feel euphoric. Sort of like the world doesn't exist. This lasts until I sleep next.

Life goes on.... It is only a head.

I get bad headaches during periods of intense concentration.
The worst ones were when I played pool for money.
I got a few little ones after C++ sessions.

I can ward off the C++ headaches by taking breaks and
concentrating on something else. Since I don't study C++
anymore or shoot pool, my headache quotient has gone way
    down.

My philosophy is: if it feels good do it. If it dosent', don't.

    Hey rick...

What is your main interest codingwise/computerwise these days?
It’s obvious that you do a fair bit of Web programming, but I'm curious as to what you are concentrating on at the moment.

    I don't know if it's a migraine, but I get
this terrible pain above/behind my right-eye.
Sometimes the left. It's awful. After a while
of experiencing the pain, I ususally become very
naucious (sp?). I don't know why I get them,
probably something to do with light.

Coffee is currently the immediate trigger since I cant really avoid the weather effects, if they crop up I'm practically guaranteed to walk past someones cup of uber strong filtered stuff and my body just decides to try to rewrite its chemistry.

I actually managed to catch yesterdays soon enough to prevent the whole vomiting thing, which was nice. But my sleep pattern is all phuqed up and I've got to catch up a couple of hours at work.

I have never drunk coffee, since the "aroma" does unpleasant things, nor tea. I get all my caffeine through soft drinks and the occassional chocolate I eat or drink when I think I can get away with it and need the energy or other good chemicals in chocolate buzz.

I only get the "aura's" once its too painful to force my eyes to focus.

static, sounds like its mild migraine effectively. There's probably a whole heap of triggers that if you were exposed to at the same time would make it tonnes worse.

I also discovered whilst driving home, while I still could (just), that I begin to lose some higher brain function.

Flash 5, Authorware/Attain, Fireworks. I plan on making
flashdaddee.com a macromedia interactive megasite, with
quizzes and movies and stuff. I'm reading Flash 5 for Dummies
and Flash 5 Training from the Source, Fireworks 4 Bible and
Authorware 5/Attain Authorized. It's slow going, though, basically
because I work at this stuff alone. Haven't been able to link
with anyone, although I know a dozen or so computer smarties.
I do it for the fun of it. For my $$$ wants, I play the lotteries.

Sometimes I wish I hadn't given up on C++ so soon, but the
fact is it's not relative to my goals. I've tried Java and PHP and
Perl, but time is just too limited .
