Thread: HELP: info on Corrosion Engineers

hey guys, if u read the subject, you know what i'm looking for(stuff on corrosion engineers, what they do, education, money etc)!! and yes, it is my homework and i know i should do my own damn work, but after searching 3.5 hours straight on the thing most of u work with, the internet, i'm outta what ever it needs to get a man to keep searching... so i turn to you!! any help on the corrosion engineers would be be greatly appreciated [edit]u know, sites and stuff![/edit]!!

I can't generalise, but we had corrosion engineers, and a corrosion control department in one of my former workplaces - I did some software for them actually.

They used to protect, (and monitor the protection), our buried and offshore, (gas), pipelines and plant against rust etc. They used all manner of techniques from simple painting and coatings, to passive sacrificial anode cathodic protection, to impressed current CP and more.

Our chief corrosion engineer, (known throughout the region as "Rusty"), was paid the same rate as any of the other gas and pipeline engineers. I believe the guys who work offshore a lot may get more, but that is true of most of the poor sods that sit around on those cold, noisy, smelly totally miserable platform, (I hated having to go out there). Don't know what his education was.

I have a reasonable knowledge of the techniques, and some of the weirder problems associated with pipelines. If you have any specific questions, ask and I'll try.
