C# is a very small part of .NET. It is an OOP language that has seemless integration with .NET framework classes. It was necessary to create C# because C++ is not managed. VS.NET is totally designed around the concept of OOP and languages can share class objects with each other. VB.NET has become a lot more like C++, infact it is a full OOP language now. Microsoft has buried much of the burden of low level systems design so that the programmer can built the front end and not worry about having to design compatible, stable, and secure low level features. Those components can easily be adopted from .NET classes.The burden was placed on the .NET infastructure for the benifit programmer. Wait to you see the power and the new technology. It would be a wise decision to start to learn how to use this complex tool. It is a far cry from Visual C++6.

No way will C# replace anything, dean. Maybe it'll replace JAVA in MS systems, but no more than that.

You have a lot to learn too KEN. Like I said, C# is not that big of a part of .NET. It is simply a seamless protocol. Soon all of the languages will have seamless integration. .NET is a service. I don't know what you think it is. Out to beat JAVA? Nobody is claiming that on the Microsoft team. We simply don't know what that means.

.NET allows you to have all the power you want, but it also offers you the ability to adopt secure class objects that will be a standard. Also C# is not owned by Microsoft.

.NET also proposes to offer software as a service. I will not elaborate on this because I want to learn more. See 'project Hailstorm'. This is a fascinating subject however. Stuff like digital lisencing and distributed software. In the future I will know more about this.

It's a private school that leans toward business operations training, even with it CIS students, also runs on a trimester -year round.

I still think that Linux's greatest downfall is that it does not want to compete. It is too reserved, especially its philosopy.

Microsoft will eliminate pirated software. We will begin to see this plan come to fruitation very soon because all the groundwork is set. This will be a big blow to Linux and a boon to Microsoft and its relationship with corporations seeking copyright security. New industries will fund initiatives to support .NET and software will become a service.
