    >Oh, and I also do believe that programmers have the same problem with girls. It is just natural. Nothing we can do about it.

That is half right and half wrong. Programmers do have this natural problem. We are good with academics, but not with sociality. However, we CAN do something about it, unlike what you said.

For example, I have balanced it all out and made sure I am social by being in choir. Choir is cool because there are hot girls, and there are cool guys to hang with. Also, I have just learned through time to overcome this "girl-thing" over time. It is not easy, but it is definitely doable.

When I first began programming, I knew that many programmers were antisocial (for lack of a better word), so I basically made myself determined that even though I loved to program, I would not become antisocial. Its basically just a thing of determination. If you have the determination, you can do it.

    > Also, see good news for the other reason why I'm "wearing" off of her.

Now for the good news. There is this other girl. Except, I have this girl in two of my classes, so I know her a little better than the other. She is really cute and I think that I'm going to ask her to this dance. Her friends told me to go for it so I think I'm going to.

Yup, this all happened in one day. I guess I'm happy about it. Maybe I'll just try my luck with the first one. If she turns me down, who cares? I have this other girl.<

I am very basicly in the same sittutation. Realizing that I would most likly never see the girl from micdonalds again, I spend my time tring to to get over her. So basicly I though every girl I talked to was cute, but my mind kept going back to her. Until a few days ago when the girl I liked in the beging of the year, looked in my derication, and know I keep thinking about her again.

BTW I followed the same pattern in 9th grade. Stupid Fate :::Hits Fate ::: put me in some classes with this girl, or at least give me lunch.

Okay, I'll keep you guys updated.

I'm definitely thinking about going for the new girl, but I would still like to test my chances with this other girl. It is a win-win situation. If she say yes, then great. If she says no, then I won't think about her again.

I hope it all works out. I'm sure it will. With a little guts and some praying, it will.

Being anti-social is not necessarly a bad thing. If your happy not going out and being social, then why force yourself? So that you can be "normal"???

Most of the socializing that i do is through business events, conventions, dinners, etc. (At least 3-4 times a week) and thats usually enough for me.

    >Maybe you're right. I'm only speaking from what I saw and felt
as a young boy growing up. It may not be a majority of adolescents
who have problems connecting with the opposite sex, but the
    number still is considerable.<

I agree, i saw a lot of people my age in high-school that were afraid to approach girls. Its not a big deal, its quite normal, and i would venture to guess that at least 70-80% of people have the same problems when trying to ask a girl out. It will get easier as you get older. I was the same way (and still are to a lesser extent.... only now the women can't keep their hands off me.)

I guess I never really thought of myself as antisocial, but I'm not extremely "outgoing", if you may. Maybe I could be considered antisocial, though. If you think antisocial is staying home on a Friday night to program, then I'm definitely antisocial.

Just continuing on that thought, is it really bad if we are anti-social? I think that if somebody is anti-social, they are apparently content with what's going on in their life, so they don't need a whole crowd around them 24/7. We programmers are content with our programming life, so we'd rather sit quielty and think of an interesting algorithm instead of listening in on the gossip. There's nothing wrong with that.

oh, and by the way, if you have pressed Esc, you can undo the clear by hitting the keyboard(no, just kidding), do Ctrl-Z.
I know this, but the first thing I tried (I don't know why) was to press Ctrl+V and because there is only single Undo level available, I couldn't get back my text. Nevermind.

I don't think so. You don't have to wait for being older. All you have to do is to meet people more often and communicate. And when I say people, I mean, in this case, girls in most. But:
Being anti-social is not necessarly a bad thing. If your happy not going out and being social, then why force yourself? So that you can be "normal"???
That's exactly what I was trying to say. That's it. Almost everybody in teen age (and sometimes after) has these problems. The only difference is how programmer and non-programmer deals with them.
For example graduation exam. Everybody has to worry about it the same way. If you're good student, you learn everything in the spring and feel fine all the time after it. If you are bad student who don't like learning, you're worrying about it and anxious when it comes. Of course, as well as in case of girls, after you've done it, you're like: 'it was so easy, why was I afraid of it? Hey everybody, that's no problem, just do it!!'
If you think antisocial is staying home on a Friday night to program, then I'm definitely antisocial.
Me too. I only go out to clubs to listen some cool live music, but that's just sometimes.
    Please excuse my poor english...

And, we can't be that anti-social. After all, we are talking on this board, aren't we?
