Thread: What should I think...

    What should I think...

    of this guy. He is a freelance programmer,sysadmin, and 3d graphics artists for tons of company. BIG companies. He can get you top of the line systems for $1500 if you're his friend. He can do all sorts of cool stuff and makes me and alot of other people here look like noobs. And last of all, he's self taught.
    You may be thinking now, you should think of him as an expert! But wait that's not all. He says that all OSes (including *nix) are crap compared to WinME and DOS.

    This is nothing out of the ordinary, I've met programming consultants that make more money than I could hope for yet see nothing wrong with this:
    Code:
    char *p;

    strcpy ( p, "Hello, world!" );

    >does it need a pointer? Is that what it is?
    It needs memory. The pointer points to memory not owned by the program, it should seg fault, but may not. This is something every sensible programmer learns eventually, and no professional should lack such basic understanding of pointers.

    Either he has been very lucky with Windows and DOS or he was pulling your chain. Of course, the chance that he's an idiot is also pretty high.

    Prelude, show us what that code should be changed too (i'm quite dumb and dont want people to think i'm dumber )

    ...but maybe all this guy has used is ME and DOS, and rejects anything else. Either way I dont think he's stupid.
